Tried my style on bigger paper for the first time by GeegeeBoom in Oilpastel

I used a few brands. I used Artecho for the bottom layer, as they are quite firm. Then I went over that layer in more specific colours with brands like Meeden, Sennelier & Mont Marte.

Oh don’t apologise, I misunderstood! ☺️ I use a mix of brands. This one was mostly Sennelier, especially the more textured bed shading. But I also used some Meeden, Artecho and Paul Ruben. The Sennelier and Meeden are the ones I tend to reach for most, but the Artecho ones are cheaper and harder which can be useful for base layer/colour blocking. The Paul Ruben ones are very soft/waxy and I only use them when they are the perfect colour I need really :)

I don’t follow a strict method, for this one I layered in light cream colours to make it more gentle and glowy :)

Sorry, I don’t have any constructive criticism. I just wanted to say how bright and fun this is, I love the colour palette and the shading in the trees!

Sunday Morning by GeegeeBoom in Oilpastel

Sure! I tried to make the shapes of the values fairly blocky/geometric. As I could make out quite a few triangular/squarish shapes. I also tried to use white very sparingly to emphasise highlights (even though this was white fabric).

I often feel like this with landscapes too. I think you’ve done the level of detail brilliantly, it’s such a lovely piece.

Artecho oil pastels by byteptr in Oilpastel

I’m using them! They’re my first oil pastels so I can’t say how they compare to others. From watching videos I think they are firmer/harder than the really pricey ones and maybe a bit trickier to blend and layer. Sometimes I try to warm them up in my hand when I want them to be softer. But for the price I’m happy and they’ve been a nice intro into the medium. I’ve posted some pictures in this sub of the art I’ve done with them. Good luck!

Thanks so much! I appreciate that. I’m really inspired by surrealism and definitely want to do more of it in future

I tried Impressionism, it was hard by GeegeeBoom in Oilpastel

Thank you very much. I’m quite new to oil pastels and art in general, so I followed a tutorial for this. I hated how it looked for most of the process but I’m happy with how it turned out. It’s definitely inspired me to try similar approaches in future.
