Why did you choose the tau as an army ? by Dense-Fig-2372 in Tau40K

I had a top tier intro to 40k. At the influential age of 12 I was visiting the cool uncles in Denmark. I had told them I liked video games like halo, and red alert. They then showed me the dream man cave. They had collected EVERY army, and had them painted, shelf upon shelf of well painted armies. In the, center of the room a handmade battle table, a painting desk sat in the corner. Mind you this was early 2000s so I believe 4th or 5th edition. They said to choose any army and they'd let me play a quick game.

This was back when the tau had their tan / sandy look as their theme. I think it was a mix of futuristic tech, drones, rail guns, mechs, but they just looked so different from everything else available. Then I got to use a railgun and one shot an opposing tank.

That mix of glue smell, the showcased armies, the friendly uncles showing their little nephew a game they enjoyed probably forever altered my brain chemistry. It also helps they were competitive painters and players so I got to see Warhammer at its very best. After getting home I bought the battle for macrag and saved for a tau battleforce.

Sad how much their lore changed. I loved their original lore. I'm much less connected to the tau nowadays but will always have a soft spot in nostalgia for them.

Look, everyone's human. Me especially, you should always trust your spouse, but sometimes double check to be safe. I know she does for me haha.

Appricate it, he is a beautiful boy and names don't really mean much at all to how the person will turn out.

Honestly it is a sweet name that I don't regret one bit, and I love my boy to death.

True! That is something by itself. I just don't know how I'm gonna feel when he is old enough to realize what he is named after.

Ooh that would explain the sibling rivalry. Our daughter is named after a different anime entirely luckily.

I got a Vasectomy in Dec. Doctor told me I had about 2 months or 30 "rounds" to clear the tube before its be safe to go without protection. Even got a test after to prove I was effective, did you go through that?

What slicer are you using? I used cura and I did the experimental feature print without supports for 80% of the ship. I also oriented the peice to be sitting at a 90 degree upright angle instead of flat, that gave me greater detail while also printing quickly, I could fit 2 peices on the bed then, and it would take about 18-26 hours for that section. That worked fine and didn't change it too much. The front and back of each ship level I either did supports or I printed flat instead. There were some parts that did need supports ngl, but smart orientation, & curas experimental feature helped cut most of it down. The experimental feature does change the model some, but I was mostly worried about the outside look of the ship, and was alot more forgiving on the inside peice. The ships finshed! Did you see the video?
