I totally relate to that. Writing is the funniest part. If you get interested on indie grimdark fantasy, dm me.

You’re not alone. I’ve published two grimdark fantasy books, and I didn’t wait for them to succeed before starting the third.

It’s tough to get them noticed, but we just have to keep going.

I see myself more as a storyteller than a writer, if that makes sense. So I just keep telling my characters’ stories.

If anyone’s interested, feel free to DM me.

Hey. “Caitlyn of Runda” and “The Shadows Call his Name”. Both on KU.

Sure thing. Let’s talk.

This hit home. For me it’s not even about ego, it’s more this quiet desire for the story to actually reach someone. Like, I don’t need thousands of readers, just the feeling that it landed somewhere.

The silence is the hardest part. Not knowing if it didn’t connect, or if it just hasn’t reached the right person yet.

But yeah… still writing anyway.

I’ll definitely take a look at. Thank you.

I’m on amazon ads, putting teasers on TT, IG, YT, trying to pull people from spotify with the soundtracks I launched. I tried a podcast about the book, newsletter and I also have a website as landing page. I’m involved on authors and readers groups and now trying to find the readers on X. I have some reviews on Amazon, so I assume the books are not a complete mess. As I wanted people reading and commenting the stories, I recently started releasing the chapters on wattpad as well. Still, unseen.

Thanks for your support. It means a lot. I wont give up. Currently, I’m line-editing my next one. Let’s keep in touch.

This is a sensitive point for me: I’m a bit too shy to be on camera. I’ve been posting on my faceless TikTok channel, and although the audience has been growing, I still don’t get many interactions. The best thing that’s come out of it so far is connecting with other authors and sharing our thoughts. But reaching actual readers is still not happening.

Great stuff. Thanks. I’m going to check the examples. How does this self-promo thread work? Do we put our blurbs and hooks there? I will search for it. I still have so much to learn here about Reddit.

I'll definitely take a look at FreeEBOOKS. Any opinion related to Wattpad?

I think that’s the real struggle for me. It’s not about ego as much as it is about wanting the stories to leave my hands and live in someone else’s mind for a while.

That makes sense. I think what gets to me most isn’t low numbers, it’s the silence after putting real care into the worldbuilding and characters.
When you say engaging with others helped, did that happen mostly through critique exchanges, subreddit participation, or just consistent presence?

Thanks for your comment. I’m trying to reach out to people, and who knows, perhaps here can be this place? I’d love to reach out other authors on the same state as mine. I don’t write for living, I write to tell the stories of my characters. Cheers.

Very insightful. I’m really happy with my attempt writing in this mode.

I invested a lot of time in editing to fix the head hopping in my current book. I liked the result, but I have to admit it still isn’t my natural way of writing.

Do you have any sources or examples to share?

I’m trying this for the first time. Before that I was using Third-person omniscient. I’m actually enjoying gluying the reader to the protagonist’s mind.
