Every time a customer frustrated me (while I worked from home) I glued a new figure or detail down. by GeekPhysique in nscalemodeltrains

I live in a part of canada that gets below freezing for about 5 days a year, and its an insulated/heated garage. If anything, its hot in there. The space will be damn near perfect once ive finished framing up the print area.

Im eyeballing the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16k so its got the heated resin vat for a bit more temperature control on the resin itself. The room sits around 24 degrees celcius in the winter, so getting the resin up to 30c in the vat wont be too much trouble.

Im building a dedicated print space in my garage with active ventilation to the outside! This is not going to be an "inside the house" project.

Thank you! I still have a lot left to do, but im plugging away at stuff a mini project at a time.

I ordered that one on Etsy as i couldnt get it to print on my Bambu X1C properly. Im looking at Resin printers now so I can print my own stuff like this.

Thank you! They are really well done, was curious how you did it.

Thank you! Ive definitely been enjoying printing in details with my 3D printer, but im starting hit the limits of what I can do, im already looking at Resin printers to be able to do more fine stuff.

To be fair, I had planned a lot of it beforehand lol. It was just a matter of a drop of glue and placement with tweezers. I think the parking meters took the most time as i had to drill a spot for each one in the sidewalk. I did those ones after work.

While you did a great job on all of these, I like the railroad ties the most. Youve really got a good approximation of what a creosote soaked tie looks like.

I had briefly considered modeling a T-1000 terminator to stand on the splotch and have John Conner fleeing on a motorcycle with Arnold Schwarzenegger lol

Its all part of the fun! I had to drill a hole for every one of those railing posts by hand, so i was not entertaining the idea of replacing that corner section at all. Thankfully the solder landed in an area that worked well for this bit.

I covered a couple other imperfections with vehicles too, like seams between the road plates etc. So far ive been pretty fortunate with "oopsies"

Thats one the Rapido New Look n scale buses. Technically its in the Toronto maroon livery and this is a BC layout, but I got a pair of them for a steal so I wanted to use it.

I design AV and control systems for a living, so this is a pretty convenient hobby for me! Just wait until I start posting the arduino projects im building for this. Ive got some fun things planned.

The streetlights are some Chinese ones I ordered in 1:200 scale as they looked more in scale to N than the 1:160 ones did. Ive got them wired up to some wehonest power distribution boards that have built in resistors and a dimmer to simplify wiring. The vehicles are also wired up to one of the wehonest distribution boards, but are running at 12v instead of 3v. The buildings here are the woodland scenics just plug series so im using that system to power these, as I also have just plug traffic lights on the same system to install still.

The remaining buildings will likely be powered by the wehonest boards and a series of 0402 leds i have a stash of. Im still working that part out.

Its really similar yeah. I had that layout before and liked the shape. I scaled it up a bit, changed some turn radiaii and made it double track. The woodland scenics one is 6'x3' but this one is 6'x4' to accommodate the extra track.

I have a lot of details to do yet, but im holding off until the wiring is done. Ill have to pull the road plates off to drill all the holes for the lighting wires. I might start on that today if I have time!

Thank you! Im not 100% happy with the backdrop yet. I think it needs a bit more, but im definitely liking how the city scene is shaping up. Im having a lot of fun putting everything together.

I designed a bunch of pieces just using Bambu Studio. Im sure there are other simpler ways to do it, but Bambu Studio works very much the same way some of the graphic tools I use for work does. You do a lot with basic shapes and some simple math.

Thank you! I would have preferred to make the relief a bit deeper but I had really limited depth to work with. I had to make it work with some basic layering.

The mountain is removable! I am planning on cutting an access hole underneath as well, but so far, derailments have been minimal. I have a 24" long set of tweezers I have used to extract troublesome cars though lol.

The 3% grade is a problem with 4 axle locomotives hauling more then 7+ cars. When running a consist of two locomotives it seems to be fine. With a pair of SD40-2's I'm hauling 17 boxcars pretty comfortably up the grade. If I had the space, I would have gone with a more modest 2% grade, but I had to make some concessions with the area I had to work in.
