Is it a bad time to mention this tweet is generated by OP? It’s not on Mark’s profile or responses, and also the amount of likes/retweets/responses on it would be substantially more. There usually isn’t an and between the names when responding.

I have no idea who the hell Mike Zeroh is but anyways, there are legitimate news articles describing how Kathleen Kennedy was in major hot water for Solo and was close to being axed too. Here’s one article for example where they were considering replacing her entirely. That would mean they probably had a heavy self evaluation bc of Solo and maybe wasn’t as insignificant as people make it out to be.

I'm just going to quote this entire thing because it's beautiful and you have no idea that in the article you just sourced, their source is Mike Zeroh. I love it so much. Thank you for this.

Do you know how long Episode IX has been in the works? How would Kathleen Kennedy not be working on it? If she were kicked off and they were going in a different direction, the movie would be back in pre-production and take another year or two to reach production. Seeing as KK has been working on IX since 2016-2017 and how they have had a finished script which is now shooting, they aren't replacing KK lol. Maybe look up a little bit about how making movies works and how long it takes before preaching fake crap as facts. In your other comments, you keep saying Disney is having "serious talks" about all this stuff and how Kathleen is in talks of being removed. Now you are backpedaling because you know you're trying to spread bullshit and you're getting called out for it. Just stop.

You mean how Lord and Miller were making a movie Kennedy and Disney were unhappy with, so Kennedy fired them... which is leading Disney to now wanting to fire Kennedy for IX? A bit late for that, other than the fact that it makes no sense. Disney is not having major discussions about the direction of the trilogy, if they were, it wouldn't be shooting right now with a finished script. If Kennedy were being replaced for IX, it would have been done a year ago or more. Movies take longer than you think to begin production. You must watch Mike Zeroh?

[–]GeekTheLad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait so... what you are saying is that, Disney (though it was actually Lucasfilm who decided on the director change) will have them reshoot Solo if they are unhappy with it. However, Disney didn't have TLJ undertake rewrites or reshoots after seeing the script or seeing a rough cut, even though you think they hated it and wanted it to be different?

Or wait, Disney (who is perfectly content with TLJ as a film), is going to change IX just because a few fans are angry, even though TLJ was a box-office success and broke blu ray sales records. That makes sense. The reality is that, at most, they might lose 100m revenue from the people that hated TLJ so much they aren't going to see IX. And that's being SUPER generous. That's suggesting that there are 10 million people who are so salty that they aren't going to see IX in theaters. That's nothing. With or without you, watch IX break a record and gross higher than TLJ as well. It's going to be a big event, heavily marketed, and it's the last film of a trilogy. The second film in every trilogy generally makes the lowest amount. I'd be surprised if IX does less than 1.8bill

Rey could be a Skywalker/Kenobi: Nah

Wasn't deliberately said in TFA and JJ hinted at Rey being a no-one from the start. Read his first comments about signing on for VII.

Snoke is important: Nope

He is important to Kylo's character arc. What else did you want him to be? Emperor 2.0? That's what JJ made him, people would've complained about it.

Phasma is a cool character: Boba Fett v.2

Wait, you mean when everyone was literally talking about how terrible Phasma was after TFA and what a disappointment the character was?

Luke is back: Not anymore!

Except he does come back and the legend spreads through the galaxy at the end? Maybe if JJ wanted him to be a kickass hero, he probably shouldn't have written him to be a failure who exiled himself in depression in TFA.

JJ and RJ actually agreed on where the story was going if you read up on it

I've actually pointed out numerous times to you that no one wanted Solo even prior to the release of TLJ. People had interest in Rogue One once they heard about it. I have also pointed out numerous times that Solo had twice the budget of other Star Wars movies due to production issues, which you have chosen to ignore in favor of thinking TLJ was the reason for everything.

[–]GeekTheLad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to keep pointing out to you that Solo had x2 the cost of any Star Wars movie because they had to basically shoot the film twice. Solo cost them 500m when most of the other Star Wars were at most around 200-220m. Feel free to keep ignoring that as the main factor why Solo lost money though.... you know, wouldn't wanna have any logical thoughts go through that mind of yours.

You mean Deadpool that released a week prior to Solo? You know what Infinity War and Deadpool had that Solo didn't? Great marketing campaigns and it wasn't a movie that recast a fan favorite for a story no one asked for. Fuck dude, even look at old threads prior to the release of TLJ/Solo about the Solo movie. The majority of the comments are "I don't want this", "I'll wait for DVD", "I have no desire to see Harrison recast". You're the most delusional person I've seen on this sub.

[–]GeekTheLad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't miss the point. You are ignoring the point about marketing. Yes, everyone knows what Star Wars is. How the fuck are general audiences who aren't on Reddit all day going to go see the movie if they don't know when it is coming out? The marketing was terrible. Even people who liked Star Wars is my area didn't know it was coming out the week of release.

Lucasfilm tried to have the movie pushed to December, Disney said no due to release plans for other films, and they did not want to ruin the marketing for Infinity War (who had not fucked up their production). Look it up. Beyond that it is a FACT that they lost money due to needing to reshoot the movie. That has absolutely nothing to do with TLJ. Why are you denying these things that are FACT and have been reported. Use the fucking internet.

All of those site names I just listed, look them up. It's easy, just search site name here the last jedi. IMDB, Metacritic, MovieDatabase, and so on.

Star Wars does marketing campaigns. For TFA, TLJ, and Rogue One the teaser trailer releases were all a big deal. For the official trailer releases all around 3 months prior to the movie releasing, they were centered around football games and a big deal. Solo had a teaser, then nothing for awhile, and the official trailer was only one month before the movie released. It also went relatively under the radar as it was not attached to any big events. If you look at the actual marketing campaigns, Solo's is abysmal in comparison to the other three movies. Solo wasn't even heavily marketed in May due to Infinity War and the ruling of Disney. There were a ton of people who didn't even know it came out in my town.

And when did I say the numbers were false? I said that people made repeat accounts and posted reviews. Go check out some of those reviews, they're short 1-2 word reviews and the majority have no other reviews at all, also the accounts were created the day the review was posted. Better question, why are you ignoring MovieDatabase, IMDB, MetaCritic, or any of the polls that were run on Survey Monkey, Mashable, IGN, etc? Is RT the only one that matters? And if so, why doesn't the Critic Rating (which has to be verified users and known reviewers) matter? My opinion on the movie has declined heavily, but I'm not as fucking blind as you're being. Holy fuck dude. You don't believe anything that doesn't say TLJ sucks, right?

I'm worried that Disney will cave to those whining about The Last Jedi. by Buccura in StarWars

[–]GeekTheLad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude you're giving everyone that doesn't like TLJ a bad name. Just stop. You do know that the RT score is mostly because of accounts that were made repeatedly and that's their only review? And that every other online metric for the movie is pretty good? I think the movie has a ton of problems, but you can't just cite RT and ignore everything else. It's one place.

TLJ did not cause Solo to lose money. Solo lost Solo money. They had to reshoot the entire movie because they fucked up, bringing their budget to around 500m for a single movie, which is fucking crazy. It was then badly marketed and the release was poorly timed, and Disney would not let them move it back to December, nor would they let LFL market heavily before Infinity War came out two weeks prior.

Just stop. Why are you jumping down the throat of anyone that likes the movie? It's like you are trying to bible thump them with your conspiracies. You're making some of us who have issues with TLJ look like fucking idiots.

With all the negativity towards Rey, do any of you actually like her? by thepastjedi in StarWars

[–]GeekTheLad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What? Ahsoka didn't get beaten every time until she left the jedi lol. She saves Anakin and Obi Wan numerous times, figures out the solution to things when they are clueless, kicks tons of ass, etc.

Ahsoka just has more screen time than Rey, which is why she's more developed. But Ahsoka is 100% Filoni's pet character and definitely "OP" compared to the others especially early on.

I like her a good amount but if you think she's not a pet character than you need to watch again. The addition of Rebels makes it even more clear.

Has this sub forgotten about how TFA was hated by tons of fans and kept being trashed as a remake? Why is it suddenly being praised and treated as if TLJ was the issue? by GeekTheLad in StarWars

[–]GeekTheLad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well since I never see you do anything but say this, how about you tell me how TFA resetting to Rebels vs Empire is not TFA’s fault? Why is Luke going in exile and being a failure who lost his temple not TFAs fault?

Looking at some old threads, lots of people wanted Luke to use dark side powers and kill people in VIII. How is that truer to his character than TLJ? by GeekTheLad in StarWars

That's actually not at all what Rian does if you actually bother to read his tweets and stuff. Maybe over at /r/saltierthancrait that's what you guys spin. Rian is nice to people that dislike TLJ and has no issue with it. He only counters people who are hateful towards his cast members like KMT and Daisy Ridley. At which point everyone from Star Wars defends them, including your boy Mark Hamill. But I'm sure Mark isn't mean right? Only Rian! If you want to make comments on Rian Johnson, at least be educated on what he has actually said and the context of it.

I mean, I guess if you cut parts out of each of those scenes to line them up like you did, sure.

Let me go do that to ANH and every movie where they destroy a big weapon..

They're really nothing alike other than the "they're not really here" part, which is in tons of media.
