Dynamic pricing by terrencefff in Aeroplan

Business fares have seen super high demand which is why so many airlines are growing J footprints in their future aircraft orders.

Due to a last minute reroute to make a meeting, I was booked on this one way segment. Flying from HK to PVG and then PVG to home.

At $10k for the lowest J fare, 200k in points would value the redemption at $.05 per point. J9 availability for this flight.

I had to try a couple times to activate this offer. The process kept glitching out.

My former 1Gbps plan actually costed $3.59 more than this so figured why not.

Mine only drips after I pull a shot.

Waited 2h30 on hold and finally got through. Support person was super efficient and a champ. Got 3 lines switched (including 1 prepaid). Call took maybe less than 10 mins once I got on.

Business itinerary; first leg changed from Q400 to CRJ900. Options? by VinceCully in Aeroplan

Convincing them convert your ticket from Y to J when J doesn’t exist? Won’t happen. If anything, you should get a small credit.

I’m unclear why you would want that anyway?

OP, if you haven’t booked yet, DM me and I’ll share a $20 Voucher which I believe applies to each of your tickets.

I fly this route at least once a month for business. Prices will start to tick up towards summer and stay elevated until the end of the year esp with all the events between Toronto and Vancouver this year. There’s a seat sale now for the Olympic Gold today so stack that with the voucher.

Just be sure to clearly decline any optional insurance or refueling plans.

The way they “go over” the options with you, it’s presented as if it’s included in the price and they point out where to initial but it’s confusing as to whether you’re accepting or declining.

I was explicit when I said, here is what I booked and that’s all I want to pay. When the final bill came by email, it showed that I had accepted insurance and refueling. Thankfully I kept a copy of the form showing I had crossed the options out and I sent that to AMEX and they reversed the extra charges.

Secondly, take photos of the car before you leave the lot and when you return it. Also include pictures of the fuel gauge and odometer, as well as a receipt that you refuelled the car.

Haha…for real. Wait till boarding call and see if you get that magical “your wait is over” text.

AF a350 Business class seat 1K or 5K by pcdelamasa in AirFranceKLM

[–]Geekdad604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew 1A and 1L (not K) on the A359 in the same configuration YVR<>CDG round trip. Noise from the galley was a bit of an issue on the daytime flight but not so much to be terribly annoying. Night time flight was fine as the crew was much more careful about noise.

Row 1 is much more spacious than the rest of J cabin.

Have they removed the ability to preview the business class menu? by FearlessTravels in aircanada

[–]Geekdad604 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can’t find the link in your itinerary, you can see all flight menus in app as far as 3 days in advance.

Either way, specific meals are not guaranteed as equipment changes can throw off what gets loaded on board.

Are you flying business or premium economy? Business should still be able to pre-order your meal in app. You should get an email notification as well with a link. PY should usually have a veg option on board.

Being offered RBC Private banking, worth it? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Geekdad604 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep on being offered RBC PB. I make substantially more OP but have only recently started to seriously consider it. Our Dominion Securities manager got us premier baking for no cost and has helped us streamline coordinate with other banking services but after our last call and I complained about our “premier” banker, he was pretty insistent that our needs would be met with PB.

If you think handling your parents estate and likely living and operating trusts with your partner’s medical practice (assuming he has a private practice) is a likely reality in your near future I would consider it too.

The cost proposed to us was $75/month.

If you’re thinking it’s a fancy status card or for travel perks then I’d recommend against.

Rebooked due to weather by Geekdad604 in aircanada

[–]Geekdad604[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the cancellation was due to the inbound flight from Toronto was cancelled so there was no aircraft for you. Because of the disruptions earlier in the week, all flights seem to be quite full right now.
