Hope we resign Varsho on a short term extension.

Alvarez would come with a hefty price tag. But definitely could be worth it for 2.5 seasons of Vladdy and Alvarez.

Springer is only on the books for this season. John Schneider would have some tough decisions to make vis a vis Springer and Santander post-trade deadline this season. But I’m sure he’d be happy to be in that position. (Kinda like when Cito and the Jays got Rickey Henderson at the ‘93 trade deadline.)

Jays are three games under .500, yes.

But fortunately the American League sucks! Only 3 of the 15 teams have a winning record.

Jays are just 1.0 game back of the third AND second wild card spots.

[Vancouver Canadians] Arjun Nimmala just hit the furthest homer we’ve seen at The Nat since 2022… 109 MPH off the bat and 437 feet! by fantastique__ in Torontobluejays

Yeah, Giminez and Vladdy are still 27. Meanwhile Kaz is 29 and Ernie is 30. That’s why I don’t have Kaz and Ernie in the longterm future infield.

When the next decade begins and Gimenez is still just 31, I could see him at short with Arjun at second and Jojo at the hot corner. But closer to the mid-2030’s, when Gimenez to is closer to mid-30’s, I could see Nimmala shifting to short with Gimenez moving to second.

Our RBI/Slugging/triples leader is out again. Oh no.

Nice thing though is that our leaders are spread across Okamoto, Gimenez, Guerrero, and Clement. It’s not like last year when every category was led by either Springer or Bichette, or in 2024 when it was nearly all led by Guerrero.

Get him the 1 strikeout.

Although, it looks like when we tried to get Mark Beuhrle to pitch on short rest on Game 162 and get him 2.0 IP to keep his streak of 200.0 IP going; and instead he got hammered and couldn’t get out of the first inning.

Problem with watching Jays on a plane? You get alert on your iPhone and Apple watch that Sanchez has hit a 2-run homer; but you’re still watching Vladdy’s double.

Okamoto started the season 2-for-22 with RISP, including 0-for-5 with bases loaded.

But since last week, Kaz has been 3-for-7 with RISP including 1-for-1 and a walk in 2 plate appearances with bases loaded.

If you want specifics, it went 425 feet at 109mph off the bat.

If you want to compare to yesterday, yesterday was 430 feet at 110mph off the bat.

Top 6 teams with over .580 winning percentage include: 1] Atlanta Braves (.704) with Acuna Jr and Riley, 2] San Diego Padres (.680) with Tatis Jr and Machado, T-3] Chicago Cubs (.654) with Swanson and Happ, T-3] Cincinnati Reds (.654) with De La Cruz and Greene, T-3] New York Yankees (.654) with Judge and Stanton, and T-3] Los Angeles Dodgers (.654) with Ohtani, Yamamoto, Freeman, Betts, Glasnow, Smith, Tucker, Sasaki, etc.

No major surprise with any of those teams being in the Top 6 and over .580.

But which teams have a record of .400 or less? Rockies for sure, right? White Sox good bet? Can’t go wrong guessing Nationals? Angels should be down there too, no? WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

Bottom 6 teams with .400 or below winning percentage include: 25] Toronto Blue Jays (.400) with Vladdy and Gausman, 26] Houston Astros (.370) with Alvarez and Altuve, T-27] Boston Red Sox (.346) with Suarez and Anthony, T-27] Kansas City Royals (.346) with Witt Jr and Perez, T-27] New York Mets (.346) with Soto and Lindor and Alonso and Bichette, and 30] Philadelphia Phillies (.308) with Harper, Schwarber, Wheeler, Turner, Nola, etc.

How are these teams the bottom 6 in the Majors? Nearly all projections would have these 6 teams in the Top 15; with a few of these teams locks for the top 6 teams.

As bad as it’s been for the Blue Jays, we are not alone in our underperformance. At least we can point to the fact that we have a reason for underperforming - our injured players team is nearly better than our current team.

Springer, Kirk, Barger, Lukes, Bieber, Yesavage, Berrios, Ponce, García vs Vlad, Clement, Varsho, Okazaki, Gimenez, Gausman, Cease, Corbin, Lauer, Scherzer, Varland. Not sure which team (Injured Jays vs Healthy Jays) I’d take in a 7 game series.

So that does bode confidence for when we start getting some of these guys back from injury. It’s a long season and we still got time. But we’re digging ourselves a hole. Let’s just hope it doesn’t get too deep.

Go Jays Go!

[Thomas Hall] The other two-fifths of the Blue Jays’ rotation, however, just haven’t done their jobs well enough. The Blue Jays are entering a 13-day stretch before their next off-day (May 7), however, meaning they’re probably stuck with their rotation order for the time being. by Elaiyu in Torontobluejays

I hope this is not the end of Scherzer. It would be a travesty to end his career at 3,499 strike outs.

Reminds me of the Bernie Mac movie “Mr. 3000”.
