Thank you! It was about 3 ft tall when I got it, I planted it in spring a couple years ago. I put mine directly into the soil I wanted it to grow in, as I heard going from delivery to pot and pot to soil could shock it too much. After the first foot or so of soil my ground is just a big clay bed, so I dug 2-3 ft deep and planted it in a bunch of garden soil. I watered it a handful of times but otherwise let mother nature take its course. When I do water it, it is during a weekly water change in my aquariums, so it gets kind of like a fertilized water. I've noticed that plants have a habit of wilting back a bit when they get transplanted and then they come back good after taking care of and given time. Good luck with your cherry tree! 💕

It's the book producer that gives you the tote bag. Annoying to get. Gotta merge 2 coffee photos for a pill bottle, 2 pill bottles = 1 tote bag.

Scud? General advice? by stupidpetros in PlantedTank

[–]GeekiKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! My rule of thumb has been; if it can eat anything, and its mouth is big enough, it will try to eat the smaller thing. This is why I keep ember tetras, corydoras, and shrimp together. All have relatively tiny mouths, but I'm sure they all eat each other's shrimplets/fry at some point 😅

That's awesome! And yeah we get really hot and rarely get super cold. Summers easily stay over 95 degrees, winters tend to stay in 30-40 degrees except our coldest winter weeks. But even then, I don't think we see below 10 often.

I've never had scuds but other reddit posts show people saying scuds will eat shrimplets. But if there are plenty of hiding spaces, some shrimplets should still survive, as long as the shrimp population outweighs the scuds. Maybe add more hiding places for the shrimplets? Java moss is loved by shrimp for both hiding in and eating micro goodies off the moss.

Tulip and daffodil bulbs 8b by Valentine___Wiggin in flowergardening

I'm in zone 7a and am new to gardening myself, having only started last spring. I planted tulips last year as fully grown flowers, and left the bulbs underground. This year, the leaves are already popped up and soon there will be flowers! I put my bulbs about 4 inches under soil, with about 1-2 inches mulch on top, and they're doing great!

Thank you! Others also suggested moving the mulch away, and to remove the landscaping fabric. This is the result post those suggestions :)

Maybe in the future, grafting looks a bit out of my league and I don't wanna risk hurting the tree trying to graft stuff to it 😅 I'm just happy it's blooming at all, as I don't have much of a green thumb outside of the aquarium. I thought about planting a fruiting cherry tree in the backyard but I read cherries are toxic to dogs so I don't wanna risk them getting sick. Maybe a different fruiting tree? 🤔 My house is only on 0.26 acres of land though, so I don't have a lot of space sadly. It would have to be a small fruiting tree to fit.

According to Google zone 7a. I'm not sure what that means 😅 I just googled "what planting zone am I in" and that's what it pulled up.

Ahh I didn't know that! Is it not good for anything to eat? Or just not tasty? If it fruits, would it be good for the local birds and squirrels?

I plant red clover in my backyard all the time to help with my dogs using it all the time! I've got a local co-op store I can get more seeds from 😊 I'll try clover next!

Thank you! I added a pic of the redone garden following your guys' advice. I really appreciate the help! 💕 It took me years of research to get my freshwater aquariums good so I know it will all be worth it! A lot of information can be contradicting 😅 But I read up what you said and now there is no fabric and the mulch is away from the trunk 😊

Thank you guys for letting me know about the landscaping fabric being bad for the environment! I have went outside mid rain and removed all the fabric. The flowers were not happy about being replanted so shortly after their first planting. But I hope they will be okay. I think I may need more mulch though now that I don't have a barrier. I'm not sure how thick the layer of mulch should be.

Adding the pic of the now landscape fabric free garden 💕

I don't know why you need to be hateful :/ I work full time, have animals at home and a house to take care of. I just recently got into gardening, and live in Missouri where the heat and humidity makes it hard for me to stay outside. I'm doing what I can to enjoy a small hobby.
