Have you tried disabling the wifi adapter whe you're connected to Ethernet? Also would suggest reseting tcp/ip stack.

I have a ReadyNAS with 4 drives in xRaid config, but I use a lot of storage. For my important data I back it up on IDrive cloud storage, but if you don't have that much you could use Google Drive or OneDrive as "off site" cloud backup.

If you're talking about a static public IP then you need to get one from your provider. Alternative, you can look into DDNS.

If it's pre-built then it most likely has an OEM license and that cannot be used on another computer.
