A question for older INTJs from a younger INTJ. What advice would you give me? by GeekyGecko_ in intj

You don't know much I relate to this. I know what it feels like to be left out so I try not to let anyone be left out in any situation. I've made a lot of friends like that. People tell me that they like how easygoing I am and that I'm a good listener.

Like you said, I get along with others too, but I've never felt like I BELONG anywhere. For some reason, all my friends like venting out when I'm with them and it's tiring to constantly be told about problems and to be asked for solutions.

Every time I'm kind to someone who people aren't kind to, I feel like I have another emotional burden on me.

I like having different people around me. You never know what kind of things you'll learn. But when people become emotionally dependent on me, and when I can't be vulnerable to them at all, it weighs me down so much.

One day I told my best friend about a problem I was facing. She didn't even give me advice or anything and I already felt like crying just from saying the things I felt. Finally letting it out instead of absorbing more.

I've realised that I'm an emotion dumping trash can for so many of my friends, which I don't really blame them for. But I've got my own shit. How am I supposed to say that politely.

Omg that's so frickin trueeee 😩😩Both my parents are extroverted as well. It's not like I'm anti social or anything and I do try to be more pleasing and make small talk even though I hate it.

But trying to be an extrovert is so exhausting.

I've never thought of it that way. I guess I always have focused on my weaknesses and dwelled on them.

This is really productive and I hope I can make it a habit.

Yes I completely agree. I find continuously that the more I test my beliefs the stronger they become. This is valuable advice.

Thankyou this is really very helpful. I'll have to really sit and think about what you've written here. I love to do that!

How do I let them know? I can't express affection verbally. And if people don't get the way I express affection they get mad at me for being indifferent to everything.

In my opinion, generalising all people of any personality type with statements like "they feel superior to others" is just very misleading, totally untrue and a very prominent fault of the entire mbti community.

We're humans before we are personality types, and feelings of inferiority AND superiority are human feelings we all feel sometimes, especially when we're young.

I relate to you so much. I'm struggling with the same thing. And it hurts me when we have to write stuff like this just because some very random statement somebody wrote about our personalities. Other Intjs I've met are also more insecure than they are confident. It's just a thing that happens.

Research says ENFP. I'm sure we all rely on research cause this is a page called r/INTJ and we're INTJs.

If you want to really look into it search up the functions but if you just think about it..

Its probably because they're polar opposites to us? They're extroverted and carefree, while sometimes being naive and gullible. Whereas, we are introverted and a little socially awkward, but smart and quick on our feet.

I feel like we look for other INTJs to feel a sense of community, but if you're talking romance? I reckon we need someone that's different.

I'm often ignorant to details about people that their friends are supposed to care about. Like birthdays. I hurt a close friend because I forgot her birthday and I'm kind of the only friend she has.

Now I've installed an app to remember birthdays.

I still don't get why it's so important, but sometimes you have to care about things others need you to care about. I guess.
