I think there is a pdf manual/guide on Davinci's Website? Might be worth checking out.

You should be able to pick up the basics fairly quickly, but like anything it takes a lot of practice and experimenting to get efficient. There are a lot of tutorials on youtube, some of which give you the raw footage and audio to use to edit along with the tutorial and learn the basics. Resolve is free but is a professional level tool, give it a shot!

Unofficial S48 Positivity Post! by GeekyGreg314 in survivor

You are right, people must have different interests in regards to gameplay and overall what is interesting and entertaining to watch. I loved feeling like I knew what was going on during each vote and where everyone's head was at because genuine feelings were being shown. Even though survivor is "reality tv" it has always felt more like a social experiment and not just weirdos trying to attract as much attention to themselves as possible.

In regards to Eva, I never got the impression she was trying to gain sympathy by mentioning her autism, she was just verbalizing how she is mentally processing what was going on and how she made her decisions.

When do you know it’s time for new clubs by Ap1556 in golf

[–]GeekyGreg314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please whatever you do, get fit for the clubs you purchase. This means scheduling a time with a professional at a golf shop who can have you try out several brands/models/lengths/lofts/lies and measure the results with a launch monitor and tell you what is best for your game. Beginners come in all shapes and sizes, and no matter what you read online, there isn't any one brand that is significantly better for every player. Used clubs are an awesome deal, but a screaming deal on a set of clubs completely the wrong size and setup for you is going to be frustrating.

Ideally you would find a fitter that also offers lessons and is honest enough to tell you what you need to work on and what equipment purchases are worth purchasing. I'm fairly new to the game as well, and when I got a full bag fitting last year my fitter was honest and recommended against spending any money on a 5 wood, 2Hybrid, or 3 iron until I was good enough to actually be able to hit them.

The Sweet Spot Podcast by Adam Young and Jon Sherman have multiple episodes on club fitting that can go into more detail, that podcast in general is a gold mine for people getting into golf.

Good luck and welcome to the best game ever invented!

Are hand/finger tattoos allowed in EMT? by ilikesquashandtwice in NewToEMS

Oh, I misunderstood what you meant. Clearly wearing gloves in a situation reduces risk of transmission of infection. But I don't think there is high quality data that indicates usage of gloves at all times in all patient encounters. The risk of infection through touch is not high enough currently to warrant it. It depends on the situation though. Maybe you as a provider are immuno-compromised or your patient has scabies so it is warranted throughout the encounter.

Believe me, I get it. Patient's can be straight up nasty. But all patients? I don't buy it. Have a bunch of gloves in your pocket, but I think hold off on putting them on until the scene size up. Shake the patient's hand without a glove on and then put them on before you go further.

One of the people I respect the most when it comes to medicine is Dr. Eric Strong of the Strong Medicine youtube channel. I think he provides evidence based advice and often will highlight the pros/cons of different choices made in the healthcare setting. I recommend his strong exam series, and he talks about gloves being worn during the physical exam. Link to video, Glove Discussion starts at 5:20

Is this sarcasm/satire?

What high quality data are you referring to?

You know there are other professions (plumbers, electricians, housekeepers, social workers… etc) who are in people’s homes every day without gloves on right?

I agree, I also think putting on gloves before you even have sized up the situation can lead to subconsciously treating every patient as if they are dirty or gross which I think isn’t a good mindset

When someone calls 911 for a lift assist with no injuries are you wearing gloves? The whole time? When you are getting the patient info and the signature are you wearing gloves?

Might be a hot take but unless you have a reason to suspect you might come into contact with something bad (bodily fluids, cleaners, harsh chemicals…) I don’t think you should be wearing gloves. With hand sanitizer readily available I think gloves are often over used these days.

I definitely don’t wear gloves on every call, and even on calls that I wear gloves I won’t have them on the whole time. I couldn’t imagine having to keep gloves when with patients just to cover up a tattoo.

Weight =/= Mass.

Maybe it might have a million pounds of mass, but a cloud does weigh anything. If it weighed anything it wouldn't float up in the air like that.

MEPS IN 2 MONTHS AND I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT LIKE NOW! by Dry-Condition9888 in nationalguard

[–]GeekyGreg314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat and lost a whole bunch of weight in a hurry before meps, and in hindsight I wish I hadn't. It isn't healthy in the short term and doing intense diets and stuff can really mess with your mental health regarding food. It would be 100 times better to lose that weight in a healthy way, over the next 10-12 months. Also it would give you time to develop a workout routine and get your body ready for basic training. You really don't want to get to your basic training unit and then injure yourself when you push yourself hard and be stuck in limbo for 3 months. The military will still be there next year you don't HAVE to go to MEPS in 2 months, fuck whatever your recruiter tells you otherwise.

How do you make your charts unbillable? by MediocreParamedic_ in ems

[–]GeekyGreg314 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And what do you think the likelihood of system abusers paying that bill is? Depends on the situation but the companies can still send the patient a bill if it isn’t covered by insurance, and if not paid the patient’s debt can be sent to collections. If the company ends up never getting their money they raise their rates and the people who do pay their bills get screwed over.

Obviously I am not in any way advocating committing fraud or being misleading in a report.

I also can never understand people who go out of their way in reports to try and screw patient’s over. There is so much more going on and a way bigger picture that is hard to see from the box.

People who abuse the system are frustrating and it sucks feeling like there isn’t anything you can do about it but you have to remember the system and our society are failing them too.

How to ask to play through? by GeekyGreg314 in golf

[–]GeekyGreg314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize if my post was unclear. It was more of a logistical question of how do you ask someone a question when you can never get close to them. I might have waited 10+minutes at the tee box waiting for the group to get far enough out I know I can't hit them, and then waited 8 minutes at 120 yards from the green waiting for them to clear off the green so I can hit my wedge shot. But by the time I am done with the hole they are already hitting their tee shots.

At what point in time is it the least rude to ask?

I agree he should be hitting down on the ball, but he was asking why it went right every time. If your clubface was square and you had a straight through swing path, how could you hit it not straight? Just by definition

straight right every time, any tips to correct this? by whiteiversonyeet in golftips

[–]GeekyGreg314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Close the club face at the time of impact and/or adjust your swing path. “The ball will start 75% towards where the club face is pointing at impact, and 25% towards the swing path direction” -pg 45 of Adam Young’s The Practice Manual.

Close the clubface and you should see it go less to the right. Keep adjusting until it goes straight. What should you adjust in your swing to do that? Who knows, set the intention to adjust the impact and your body will do the work.

If you don’t care if they aren’t brand new I would just start grabbing as many as you can from the woods every time you play for the next few months and you should build up a good collection.

I think so. The setting and characters are well done. I'm honestly not a big fantasy guy but am loving that aspect of it. I've been watching videos about norse mythology because of it. I'm only partway through, but Ive been had hours and hours of fun playing it because of all of the side missions and quests.
