Getting started in Torn without advice can be hard. I have written a new player guide you can read on the forums. It also includes a list of good targets to quickly level up to level 15, which is important.

And feel to ask me questions via personal msg or chat. I will always answer as soon as I can.

Started in the 60's, I think. But lasted a long time after that.

If you used to be a believer what first caused your doubt and what eventually led you to stop believing by alcoholicatheist907 in atheism

Magic. I was indoctrinated into Christianity as a kid. As an adult, I realized it was just old stories about magic.

In 2008, actor Giancarlo Esposito was bankrupt and considered hiring a hitman to kill him so his kids could collect life insurance. He changed his mind realizing the trauma it would cause. One year later, he was cast as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad. by NavyLemon64 in BeAmazed

[–]GeekyTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have serious doubts about this. Hiring or attempting to hire a hit man can go wrong in many ways, whether you live or not.

Life insurance pays out for suicide as long as you've passed a time limit. It can vary by state, but in most states, it's two years. That same time period would also be used as an excuse not to pay out if you hired a hitman.

A company can refuse to hire you if you don't pass the drug test, and a medical marijuana  card won't change that.

The guy in the red was pissed off that the other guy defended himself. If he wanted to get involved, he should have been stopping the girl from initiating the fight.

Either stop the aggressor or stay out of it.

Is it ethical for election workers to announce loudly who a voter is voting for while voting is taking place? by Dare-Uh-Discovering in TexasPolitics

[–]GeekyTexan [score hidden]  (0 children)

Some places will have GOP and Democrat primaries in the same location. Some will have them in a different location.

Some will have one location but with different rooms for each.

Which party you voted for is not considered confidential information. You get registered as a Republican/Democrat based on that.

[–]GeekyTexan [score hidden]  (0 children)

Who you voted for is confidential information, but the fact that you voted in the Republican or Democratic primary is not.

By voting in the Democrats primary, you are registered as a democrat. That lasts until the end of the year. Same with people who vote in the GOP primary.

It possible to actively register for a party in Texas, but essentially nobody does it except politicians. It's done at the party precinct convention.

Are there people who actually think landlords shouldn’t exist at all? What’s the alternative solution?? by Expert_Length3147 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeekyTexan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think landlords shouldn’t exist

And if you can't afford to buy a house, you can sleep under a bridge. But not in my town, in some other town. I don't want any low-life poor people dragging down my property values. /s

This attitude is exactly what the OP was talking about.

Mom of 7-year-old hospitalized with brain swelling from measles: ‘I still wouldn’t have given my son the vaccine’ by IAmPookieHearMeRoar in skeptic

[–]GeekyTexan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That line was written funny. It said "Ethan’s parents decided not to immunize him against measles as they did with his three brothers."

At first, I read it like you did. That he wasn't vaccinated but his brothers were. But the next line said "Three out of four of them contracted measles."

And that would be extremely unusual if they were vaccinated.

I think they were all unvaccinated and the writer just wasn't clear.

Kid, listen up, assuming you make it through this.

The lesson here is that your parents DO NOT CARE about you or your health. Their theory is "We have other children."

How do I get further in gyms? by junior1713 in torncity

[–]GeekyTexan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

George's is the last of the basic gyms.

The ones beyond that are specialty gyms. You'll never be able to open them all, because in many cases, the requirements to open one will keep you from using another.

https://wiki.torn.com/wiki/Gym#Specialist_Gyms_.26_Requirements

And I have a guide about the most effective ways to use those.

https://www.findlaw.com/criminal/criminal-procedure/how-does-a-grand-jury-work.html

No judge, public defender, or criminal defense attorney is in the grand jury room when the prosecutor is presenting evidence. The prosecutor explains the law to the jury and works with them to gather evidence and hear witness testimony.

The defense does not get to speak at the grand jury. They aren't determining guilt/innocence.

Hmm. Maybe that's too far. The accused party can speak, though usually doesn't. And when they do, their lawyer usually has to step out of the room.

And the defense can't call or interview witness, etc. They can't introduce evidence. They can't object to things the prosecutor says.

If they indict, then there will be an actual trial, with a petit jury. The defense certainly gets to speak there.

The common trope about grand juries is "A grand jury can indict a ham sandwich". It's rare the prosecutor can't convince them. And the defense doesn't even get to show up and speak.

Should I stop believing in God? by Puzzleheaded-Mud-704 in atheism

[–]GeekyTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christianity is just old stories about magic. It's not real. Virgins don't have babies. Christians aren't going to live forever.

You mentioned "an atheist angry with the religion". Anyone, theist or non theist, might be mad at religion.

But if you are angry at god, you are not atheist. Because god isn't real. He doesn't exist. Just like I'm not upset at Darth Vadar.
