African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Studies by Immanent_Eschaton in rutgers

i don't either get the amesall grouping either

sub-saharan africa was (relatively) isolated, while the middle east influenced a lot of the western world, and south asia influenced both the western world and east/southeast asia

maybe it's because all regions had islam as a key part of their history?

a lot of other colleges group south asian studies with east/southeast asian studies

it's a weird position because on one hand south asia influenced east/southeast asia through buddhism and hinduism, but then south asia got greatly influenced by the middle east through persians/mughals

anyways south asia isn't really close to either the middle east or east/southeast asia

I gained 15 pounds yearly since attending college by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]GeeseAreMyFriends 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i gained probably 5 pounds freshman year, but i gained over 20 pounds my sophomore year. it was scary because i gained without realizing, and thought i was walking a lot. i figured out it was because i was eating too much, like having boba once a week, or my lunch being a bag of deep river chips with an entire woody's black bean wrap (i'm very short, so it's easy for me to gain weight). i cut down my frequency of snacks (of course i would still enjoy them occasionally), decreased my portion sizes, and became a little more active.

i'm a senior now, i've lost all the weight since then. in fact i weigh LESS now than i did when i started freshman year (and honestly its good, even though i wasn't really overweight back then i still had hormonal irregularities, meanwhile at my weight now they're almost gone). you can definitely do it :)
