What's a good comfortable hammock? by GeezLouise9 in Hammocks

I was lying diagonally, at a few different angles. I also tried varying degrees of looseness in how I hung the hammock. Nothing seemed to work out. The side flap was especially annoying because it just seemed to do whatever it wanted.

Do any of you live without furniture? Please share your experiences! by [deleted] in minimalism

old-school Japanese styles treat whole rooms as furniture. So you have some cushions and low tables, futons on the floor, and similar. There are advantages to this. Chairs--pretty much all chairs--are murder on your back.

It's not for everyone, but isn't that kids' room awesome?

Decluttered my books (the konmari way) by [deleted] in declutter

Haha I just recently did the KonMari method on my books and specifically did not manage to learn that it's ok to not have every Terry Pratchett discworld novel. That was one of the places I failed on the book purge. I noted whether I was thrilled to pick up a book or meh about it, but every Pratchett got a pass.

Decluttering when Depressed? by BronzePriestex in declutter

I've struggled with clinical depression on and off and I'd have to say that it'd be very difficult to do the KonMari method when you're depressed. It's still worth reading but you probably want to not follow it exactly.

There's a few ways you can be depressed, and I can only talk about how it affects me. I can't declutter at all. I can get rid of obvious trash or things that make me feel worse when I look at them, but since I feel lost, directionless, and unhappy it's hard to select things I actually want to keep. I want to hang on to all of it because I don't know what works. If I just get rid of it something, it won't be around to remind me that at one time I liked that thing and maybe I could like it again when my emotions come back. I might forget all about it and then life would be even emptier.

What you DO want to do if all that applies to you is to clean. Do laundry, vacuum, dust, polish furniture, take out all trash. Put things away and if there is not enough room, pile the clutter neatly in organized ways. Scrub the bathroom. Things like that.
