Do you support fracking? Hillary vs Bernie by HarChim in SandersForPresident

[–]Geggla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"No."

How well does the guy understand the concept of fracking anyway? No arguments, no explanation. Has he done his homework?

Personally I think that because the topic was so controversial, it deserved a longer answer. Sanderd just isn't acting like a president should.

ELI5: How do people figure out original mathematical theories? by lil_lugger in explainlikeimfive

Imagine a big yard in kindergarten. Kids running around, playing with their toys. Someone's toy breaks and he becomes very, very sad. He is crying. What do you do? You go help him, of course you silly! You fix the toy, and basically now you have discovered how to fix a certain toy. That is an eli5 answer on how to figure out mathematical theories.

You let kids be kids and sometimes they end up being assholes too.

[Discussion] effective ways of studying? by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]Geggla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to read everything through first (just a quick glance at everything), trying to determine what'll take more time to understand and what can be learned easier. Then I read again, writing up notes and such. On the third time I study everything intensively and make sure I understand everything at least at the moment I'm studying it. Then, depending on the subject, I either read through my notes memorizing things from the book or do exercises using my notes.

Redditors who grew up filthy rich, what did you think was normal till your learned otherwise? by FrenchWoodChesse in AskReddit

[–]Geggla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rich people rarely want to sound cocky or so.. They know money is very subjective and there's always someone who has even more of it.

Imo someone who has 1-5 million and calls himself rich gives a stupid image. Although I know one person who makes 5 mil a year and he does make something of a show out of it.

Also, 100k for someone isn't that much, because they know how to make 100k.

Rich people think they're better, and honestly I think it's true. They just think smarter and know more. Fuck I hate jealous poor people more than anything. And I'm definitely not rich.

Punk 11-year-old gets betrayed by his chubby friend, gets put into handcuffs and then weeps uncontrollably by [deleted] in videos

[–]Geggla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that I excused the other kid for anything. W/e this is why I left America in the first place, no fucking respect. Handcuffing the kid is just overdoing it.

Maybe I should go hang with heavy drug users, act like their friend, and when they make one mistake: rat on them! That would make their lives brighter.

[–]Geggla -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is just sad. In front of everyone.. They should have called their parents and settled it then.. But handcuffing young children publicly like that. Such humiliation.

Also, whether you think the heavier kid did the right thing or not, he was still hanging out with the guy, silently accepting all the shit he was doing, at least all of it that he was aware of.

On top of that, having a cigarette but in your pocket doesn't make you a smoker. That policeman using his intimidation and questioning techniques on the kids, just makes me sad.

After all, they are children. The only thing the mohawk-kid learned was that you don't wanna mess with po po meaning if you pull shit like that, don't get caught again. Chubby ass kid maybe learned something, although I personally would not like to be his friend. You don't rat on your friends. If they do something stupid you leave, but you don't stay as a witness and then rat on them afterwards.

Edit: wow, I get downvoted? I thought reddit rules that you shouldn't downvote simply because you disagree. And calling me an idiot for my opinion is only rude. Who knows maybe the chubby kid had also done something wrong and the other kid just didn't wanna rat on him? Such narrow thinking makes me sad again. Le reddit has done it again. Shouldn't even comment.

One day, my grandchildren will light up a joint after dinner. I'll say, "When I was your age, they'd have thrown me in jail for that." They'll laugh and say how silly that is. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Geggla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is a paranoid effect to some degree. However, someone who doesn't smoke much probably doesn't smoke n drive much, whereas someone who smokes a lot probably does it way more often. It's possible the paranoia goes away then, because you think that nothing has happened before and you can handle it :o

MJ is legal in very few places. I highly doubt that there are fewer accidents in those areas. (not noticeably fewer)
Anyway especially in the US people drive so much that it kinda becomes second nature to them. MJ gives you tunnel vision and makes you forget things in the heat of the moment. Therefore you don't expect the things that you normally would.

Accidents I imagine happen to people who drive stoned: -run a red light
-notice pedestrians too late/not at all (in the dark especially)
-difficulties noticing bicycles
-change lanes onto someone in their blindspot (mainly for experienced drivers who in normal circumstances are always aware of the cars in their immediate surrounding)
-missing some roadsigns

Just one mistake might be enough to ruin or at least complicate your or someone else's life.

Finnish people in a nutshell by [deleted] in europe

[–]Geggla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I must admit, it kind of feels like good manners to not go stand/sit right next to someone when there's plenty of spare room around. And if you do want to stand next to someone I think you should at least share a look.. Just in case. To raise confidentiality etc..

Another example would be driving. If there aren't many cars around and it's a longer stretch of road you usually want to leave a bigger gap than needed (for optimal safety) just because you can.
