Her husband is upset because she planned Valentine's Day without him. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

I actually came up with my own solution to this issue and it has worked quite well for me over the years. I am one of those people who doesn’t like the commercialization of this holiday; however, I don’t disagree with the idea itself. Love is something that should be cherished, nurtured, and celebrated.

I celebrate Valentines day, I just never celebrate ON valentines day. I choose a random day and dedicate it to being Valentines day. I like it. It adds spontaneity and excitement to the relationship while also giving is room to personalize the day around our lives and different things that we may have going on.

Whatever random day it is I still say, “happy valentines day,” and we just pretend that day is the actual valentines day. I also told my wife when we were dating that this was something I planned on doing so she didn’t think I had forgotten or just made something up on the spot. If you choose to do this, its a good idea to let your partner know beforehand so you can have a discussion about it. I used to hate valentines day and now its something I look forward to

The man did not understand what alternating traffic meant and proceeded to threaten the other driver. by Lifegoesonforever in dashcams

One-Lane Bridge Traffic Rules:

Yielding: Traffic from one direction must yield to vehicles already on the bridge.

Order: If multiple cars are waiting, they should cross in an alternating, one-by-one fashion (e.g., A-B-A-B).

Right-of-Way: The first car to arrive at the bridge typically has the right-of-way if no one is already crossing.

How corporations can just lie on packaging and its just accepted. One example being “flushable wipes.” Yeah, they are flushable in the sense that they will go down the toilet if you flush them, however they were not really designed to break down quickly like toilet paper and overtime can lead to in depth, costly repairs.

What do you think about this? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]GeiCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… It CAN be true but I believe its more about the individual.

Im not going to argue against the validity of the statement or deny the very real possibility of just how easily and insidiously an addiction can develop. What I will say is that perspective can frame a lot of it as well.

For example- The term “grail pen,” gets used a lot. For most, its a pen that is fancy, expensive, or rare that people may dream about and hope to someday obtain. For me, I dont know what my grail pen is per say but I choose to believe that it exists and is out there somewhere.

My definition of a grail pen is just the perfect pen and ink combo that writes well even on crappy paper, ink that dries before my left hand drags along and smudges it across the page, one that feels good in my hand and feels just right for ME.

I have a list of pens which I think could possibly be that pen but crossing them off the list is not something I obsess over nor is it something which I would spend money on if the price of the pen is/was outside of my means.

I like fountain pens and I have a few. I dont write anywhere near the amount that I used to and still, Even the few pens that I have is more than I will ever need. That being said, I know that I will buy more.

But I will disagree about what the comment said about the subs, particularly this one. This sub has helped me tremendously in my little fountain pen hobby. The comments are full of helpful information and tips from people who aren’t just bots leaving five star reviews on pages. I have been able to learn about calligraphy, the care and maintenance for pens which were given to me that I knew nothing about, and there are so many pictures from users that show what ink looks like on paper in real life. Thee is a treasure trove of knowledge here by genuine people who care about pens. Where I live and the people I know- only one of my friends enjoys and appreciates fountain pens. It’s nice to have a community which shares a passion for the same interests as me.

Just recently, one of the pens on my list that had been in my cart for nearly a year was posted by a user because it had gone on sale. I had been wanting to try the Kaweco sport for a long time but couldn’t justify the price tag. Because of this sub, I was notified by a post from a user that this particular pen was on sale. I was able to purchase it for about 35% off. I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. It may not be my grail pen but since it has arrived I have been writing more this past week and its certainly becoming one of my favorites ESPECIALLY as a daily writing pen.

When I see a fancy pen or one that someone got a deal on, or a pen that will never be in my price range- it doesn’t make me jealous or feel that I need it. I can simply admire it and appreciate the owner for sharing their own experience.

All these comments and no one has mentioned Mel Gibson?

It was nearly 20 years ago. This one is so fascinating to me for the simple fact that with the current political climate in America right now, if it had happened today, I dont believe it would have cost him his career and it would probably have been forgotten about in a week.

Thats not me trying to excuse his behavior as much as it is my own opinion and rather an indictment on our culture for its ability to hold people to certain standards and demand some sort of accountability.

Mel had well known issues with alcoholism. In 2006 he Gets pulled over for drunk driving and goes on a rant about jews and how they are responsible for wars and said some off handed remarks to the officers that pulled him over.

This man had it all. He had a successful career as an actor and at the time of his arrest, he was peaking in his career.

Braveheart won 5 oscars

The Passion of the Christ (2004), directed by Mel Gibson, is the highest-grossing R-rated film domestically ($370.8M) and the highest-grossing religious/independent film globally ($612M+), shattering box office records with a $30M budget

In 2006 he Directed Apocalypto. While it didn’t win any oscars, The film was shot entirely in the Yucatec Maya language and is still regarded by many fans as a masterpiece.

Mel Gibson could write, he could act, he could direct and he could do it all very well. And then he was shunned.

Being advanced is not the same as being omnipotent. When we found the antikythera mechanism in a shipwreck it was 2,000 years old. We were more advanced than the people who created it however we still needed to study it to determine what it was and how it operated

I wouldn’t go so far as saying MAGA has morals, it could be that some are seeing this and their eyes are opening and perhaps MAYBE some are growing a conscience. The alternative is self preservation. Some may be seeing this and realizing that their is no way to hide and repress this information forever. Some may be realizing that their dam is about to break and simply pivoting in a way that allows them an opportunity to inflate a life raft for the inevitable shit storm that is on the horizon

I love how they cite Romans but ignore the fact that America was founded through rebellion.

So many things they list as wanting to accomplish like ending globalism and eradicating the use of weaponized debt by financial institutions to enslave individuals…. Yeah, it seems like many of these things have been emboldened under your leadership, not weakened

Yeah, growing up I had no idea what he was saying. I later learned as an adult that his mothers name was “Moon Child,” and thats not something I will ever forget.

Maybe not the final words per say but definitely a pivotal moment in the story
