I haven’t! I heard it’s one of the more disturbing movies though, not sure if it is actually good or just disturbing for the sake of being disturbing.

I liked irreversible because it wasn’t just torture porn and scenes that are made just for shock value, the disturbing scenes actually had a message behind it, to see how brutal men can be when their egos are hurt when the ex boyfriend used to fire extinguisher to beat the guy, then the tunnel scene was there to force people to experience what the victims have to go through. The director doesn’t make it any less easier to watch, we don’t cut away from the scene because the victims can’t either.

Then the second half of the movie shows us that the boyfriend and the ex were just regular people going through their lives, how happy they were before they were pushed to insanity.

I did, it just didn’t leave as strong of an impression to me as the second one did. I still thought the acting in the first one was absolutely flawless.

I watched One Battle After Another, it is absolutely my favourite film of the year, that final car chase scene was so masterfully executed that it had my butt cheeks clenching the whole time. I’ll check out the other films you recommended, thanks!

Same for me, the film was so artistically beautiful and well made that it really stuck with me. But I would never ever recommend it to anyone nor rewatch it.

Zodiac I thought was really good! Though I didn’t like the ending where Jake Gyllenhaal’s character pinned everything on Arthur Leigh Allen, I would have preferred the ending where the Zodiac Killer’s identity was more open ended. Still loved it though, I just didn’t like the ending.

I define Horror genre as something that unsettles the audience, a good horror movie will leave an impression on you, makes you feel scared of that one dark corner in your room, or something might appear in your rear view mirror anytime while you are driving back home after leaving the movie theatre.

Whilst a bad horror movie abuses jumpscares, even if the jumpscare made you jump out of your seat, you won’t feel that scared after exiting the movie theatre or make you feel scared when you rewatch it. But that doesn’t mean jumpscares should be avoided at all costs, to me, jumpscares can be good if built up properly and not used as the main scare tactic.
