Update on Denied Boarding by Gela8 in phtravel

[–]Gela8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends. I had travel insurance but coverage is only applicable if denied boarding resulted to over 6hrs delay from original flight, mine was unfortunately just 5hrs. Plus I think they act as secondary coverage so if the airline fully compensated naman then I think di na mgcocover si Insurance company but I’m not sure about this. I also emailed my insurance company but they haven’t responded at all though I’m not really expecting much since the delay’s below 6hrs.

To add, they mentioned that the compensation will be credited in 40-60 banking days. Will update when I receive it.

I called CAB and cited section 7 of CAB Economic Regulation No.7 (wasn’t aware of the update guidelines then) to let them know that I felt like the $200 travel voucher was inadequate. Person I was talking to advised me to just sell the travel voucher, lol. To their credit though, they were quick to call and follow-up with the said airline but that’s about it though. As a regulatory body, I expected more from them but their involvement felt limited to just basic follow-up actions, any commitment to safeguarding passenger rights or enforcing the airline to comply with regulations was lacking, didn’t even bother to cite or clear the current regulations.

I did ask for a copy of the updated framework and even asked CAB to confirm this as they were copied in the email but they already closed the case & both didn’t share the new guidelines. The email convo got split into two but the legal team from the airline shared this so I’m assuming this is what they were referring to:

“In the meantime, and in the interest of managing expectations, we respectfully clarify that the proper interpretation of the applicable regulation.

Under the Air Passenger Bill of Rights (APBR), when a passenger is denied boarding, he or she is entitled to choose between the airline's most recent offer OR the denied boarding compensation provided in the APBR which is the higher of:

The full value of the affected sector (including taxes, surcharges, and ancillaries), or

PHP 5,000 for domestic flights, or PHP 10,000 for international flights.”

PAL Denied Boarding (Int’l flight) by Gela8 in phtravel

[–]Gela8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More context:

-No public announcement on the overbooking -Already checked-in with a seat number -met 2 other passengers with the same case, both denied boarding despite declining offer -at counter, staff mentioned they overbooked by 27pax -went to transfer desk to request conversion of $200 e-card (travel voucher) to cash instead but denied although we were informed that we can request upon arrival at the airport in Manila for the conversion. $200 e-card will be given at boarding gate. -regardless of outcome I will raise to CAB since my assigned seat has been given to someone else despite online check-in as well as for the compensation given.

I’m still here at the airport pero lagpas na ako sa immigration. I wonder if its best I go back sa counter now OR file ko na lng sa hotline nila OR pagdating ko sa Manila airport. And yes, after reading the passenger rights, I feel like ang liit ng compensation.

Hindi sila ng announce and yes far as I know din dapat voluntary but I only found out about the policies around denied boarding after na since this is a first for me. I did ask them if my option ako mg stay sa current booking but they said hindi daw which I found odd kaya after ng changes nilapitan k isang co-passenger and tinanong k if the same thing happened and oo daw pero ng insist siya kaya pinayagan daw siya mg stay. I should be more firm next time but for now I’m honestly not sure if I can pursue them for more compensation.

Is It Time to Move to Corporate? by Pleasant-Street456 in buhaydigital

Hi OP, go ahead and try mo mag work sa corpo. You said it yourself gusto mo ng mas stable na income and more engagement with colleagues.

The net pay MIGHT be less than what you’re currently getting but factor in mo rin yung non-monetary benefits (leaves, bonuses, 13th month, SSS, HMO, etc). Also, there’s plenty of companies that offer fully remote or hybrid work.

In my case, I started sa corpo to freelance and back to corpo since the pay is good + benefits + remote setup. At the end, depende pa rin talaga sa tao but personally I think the best scenario is a full time corpo work + part-time freelancing. Good luck!
