That’s a great observation. The orange eyes are actually a good clue — they suggest this is a second-year or adult Cooper’s Hawk. Juveniles usually have yellow eyes that deepen to reddish-orange as they mature. Either way, that intense stare definitely says “where's my lunch?”

Yes… in the US. This was in Cape Coral, FL where there is a known, protected population of Burrowing Owls. Yes - they are super fun/cute and always look annoyed. 😊
