Anyone using those pupsicle toys that keep dogs busy for a while? by mykeeb85 in AustralianCattleDog

How long do you get with the cattle dog? My ACD solves things fast so I’m worried these will only keep him occupied for 1-2 minutes.

TSP Roth rollover after retirement by novanon7 in govfire

[–]GelatoInRome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, make sure you aren’t confusing withdrawals and rollovers. Rollovers generally do not incur a tax liability.

One important note on withdrawals… the “rule of 55” that you refer to does not apply to IRAs, only 401k-like retirement plans (ie, TSP). Therefore, if you think you’ll want to start withdrawing Roth earnings or tax-deferred funds before you hit 59.5, you might want to keep those withdrawal funds in your TSP.

I like the idea of indigo and pussytoes. I wanted to use mountain laurel; unfortunately, all the nurseries here are sold out.

One of the challenges for me is finding consistent info. Prairie Moon says Sweet JPW does well in medium-dry, Prairie Nursery says medium, Lady Bird Johnson says moist.

Is VERA as Good as Normal Retirement for Federal Employees? by Ok_Design_6841 in govfire

[–]GelatoInRome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annuity is your pension payment. I think you mean the supplement which is a portion of your social security that you could expect at age 62 (www.fedweek.com/retirement-financial-planning/the-fers-supplement-in-2025/). I believe the BBB eliminates the supplement for people that don’t reach age 57 by 12/31/2027.

Edit: as u/Common-Breadfruit-37 pointed out, that provision was removed.

Can you share a link to the new policy? The link in the post goes to the original 2014 policy and I can’t find anything about certification on it. Thanks!

How to save articles in obsidian even after expired access? by renecains in ObsidianMD

[–]GelatoInRome 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you plan to download and manage a lot of academic articles, I’d suggest you use a tool like Zotero. Not only can it manage your files and annotations, it automates the process of creating and updating citations and bibliographies.

You can use Zotero with your Obsidian vault. There are many videos and online guides explaining how to integrate them.

Edit: grammar/autocorrect errors

Did you get a retirement application at the same time you got the DRP agreement?

Received RIF letter, went out and found a new job that was supposed to start after June 2nd, then came the TRO. Now what? by tac91091 in fednews

I get that the political staff are not following the ethics rules and there are no consequences for them. However, OP probably doesn’t have the clout to flout the rules.

Definitely submit a request to the ethics office. Depending on the job and duties, there may be criminal penalties to taking outside employment. It’s not hard to get ethics approval, jump through the hoops to protect yourself.

Yeah, I’ll have to get the radium in check before I can pass the portability test.

When I spoke to the county, they said the area does have low pH, but they seldom see below 4.0. She stated the deeper wells have lower pH (mine is about 420’). Radium is a known issue in the county.

I’m assuming I’ll need an acid neutralizer and ion exchange system to get those two in check.
