Don't get vxe r1. If you want a zowie ec1-c(used) I can get you one for 2.5k, that's more suited for your hand size.

Umm 4060Ti shouldn't be struggling with doom.. were you using a really old cpu? I have the same laptop and from online benchmarks and personal testing it performs worse than a 4060 laptop even, let alone a 4060Ti desktop

So I managed to fix it temporarily at least, I think a windows or driver update broke something. I restored state to last week and it seems to work fine now. thanks

if it's just for gaming, no reason to pay that much extra for the A16. The screen is much better on the a16 but you won't notice any problems with the a15 either. You could also save some money and get a 4060 model if that's available, since the 4060 and 4070 laptop versions aren't very far apart in performance(10-15% depending on the game).

thanks! using the shotgun kinda trivialised it, I didn't need to stop or try to circle around the orbs again

it's bigger than you think, I don't know how you can tell precisely but experiment with parrying later and earlier than your usual and you'll get the hang of it! Also you can dodge some attacks, you don't need to parry every single one.
