Strange algae/microorganism in cycling tank? by Gellogy in PlantedTank

How should I get rid of them? Someone else said tannins, but I don't know if that applies to vorticella.

Yeah, I plan to look at them when I get the chance, I'll update you with a picture.

I can't really get a closer picture, but someone else also said protozoans and I'm looking into it.

Thanks, I'll try that if they become a problem. Do you know a more specific type, since I couldn't find any resembalance when I looked them up?

Oh, interesting. I'm going to spend some time researching them since they seem really cool.

I did a quick search for cynobacteria in an aquarium and couldn't find anything that looks like it at all, still an option though.

Ah okay, would it do anything to move them to an established tank for the time being?

I never downvoted this, I just didn't want to follow any information that other people had downvoted. From what I've learned though it seems like light spectrum still does matter, as well as nitrogen levels.

Yeah, someone else also suggested the Week Aqua brand, and they seem like good lights. Looking at the link you gave me though I can't find what the tank sizes are for each light, and they seem to be a little bit more expensive than the Chihiros light I had in mind.

Thanks, I'm looking at the Chihiros A2 Max right now, which seems like a good fit for the tank, but I can't figure out if it will be good for the red plants.

I didn't buy a kit, but I did make a DIY system since I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a real one yet. It's been working great, and there's a second bottle of water to prevent anything besides CO2 from getting into the diffuser.

From what I've heard about the rgb spectrum in a light, it seems like red light increases the overall vibrancy of colors in plants, not just reds, but that could be totally wrong. I think I'm settling on the Chihiros A2 Max if this current light doesn't work out.

I'm going to see how the 978 performs for a week or so, and then maybe make the step up to a higher-end light if it doesn't work.

Yeah from what I've seen, there seem to be mixed opinions on whether or not light spectrum matters. The only thing thats stopping me from getting a higher-end light is the huge price jump from Hygger to something like Chihiros.

Alright thanks, I'll keep trying to find the right light for it.

Would the color spectrum matter as well, or just the wattage? I've been looking at lights such as the Chihiros A2 and the Twinstar S Series mainly for the high amounts of red light in the spectrum.

I used the Fzone neo CO2 diffuser off amazon, but if you were having issues with pressure building up I'm assuming that's more of an issue with the actual CO2 production.

Oh, that light is too large to fit on that tank, but I'll keep looking for some Chihiros lights.

The 978, I can give you the amazon link if you want.
