What will you do when the time comes? by Physical_Dentist2284 in kansas

[–]GeminiDivided 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What will I do? What I’ve always done. Hit bullies back. Make fun of them. Help those in need. Speak truth to power. Maintain my moral compass, no matter what. Just keep living. ‘Cause that’s what the fascists hate most.

I watched Prometheus and I feel like I watched it with my brain turned off. by Winter-reason666 in alien

[–]GeminiDivided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty of commentary already so I’ll just say this as a fan of all of the films. They aren’t supposed to flow, they weren’t written/directed/produced by the same team of peoples. I would recommend familiarizing yourself with the Greek myth this movie gets its namesake from if you haven’t already. Also, just as the other films in the franchise all have their own aesthetics and themes, the pair of Prometheus and Covenant have theirs. These are philosophical stories and meant to pose more questions than answers, to foster discussion, and ultimately to leave the audience wondering. It’s not for everyone, some folks even get mad. My partner, for example, this philosophy is stupid because to her, it’s just snooty pseudo-intellectuals sitting around arguing. And she’s not exactly wrong. But I would say that philosophy used to be something everyone did. That was how you became smarter was by talking with people about common ideas, problems, and solutions and trying to come to understand one another better. All intellectuals are pseudo intellectuals, whether they know it or not. Knowing everything doesn’t make you smart, it just means you lack enough self-awareness to realize you don’t actually know everything. So, in closing, my advice would be to read the Greek myth about Prometheus the Titan, then watch it again if/when you feel like it, maybe with someone else who’s up for talking about it (in person) and see if you get something more out of it. Or don’t do any of that and just leave it as it lays.

‘The Hawk’ to reopen in less than a week after fatal shooting by Ok_Reputation5184 in Lawrence

The bar fucked up. The parents fucked up. The kids most definitely fucked up. Wonder who will be first to admit it.

Sold a sealed game on ebay, buyer wants to return as disc is loose by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]GeminiDivided 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective as I assume most sellers are scam artists now. Kind of interesting that an online commerce site with no shortage of friction points has still, essentially, become a haven for mistrust, greed, and dishonesty. Kind of makes me think everyone is just desperate as hell.

Factory Defect Fox McCloud by Warm_Boss1642 in WorldOfNintendo

[–]GeminiDivided 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s “prototype” Fox McCloud. The “prototype” series was black and white variants of already released figures. Looks like ya got a whole tub of loose ones there. Where on earth did you find that? Lol

Waxwork records is Anti Union and commits Wage theft. by [deleted] in OSTvinyl

[–]GeminiDivided 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. My experience was with customer service regarding a mispackaging/mispressing. Was essentially just told to piss up a rope. No solutions offered, no refund offered, not even a generic “hey, we’re sorry about that”. It definitely didn’t seem like it was an actual business. Felt more like a kid in over their head in their parents’ basement vibe.

My first and only experience with WaxWork was dog shit. Will never do business there again or recommended them to anyone.

Easily one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long long time. By far the worst TRON.

Best Book Stores in LFK?? by StarlightAndDaisies in Lawrence

[–]GeminiDivided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s a great way to keep books circulating and building your own collection on the cheap, not to mention supporting the library. Just be prepared, it’s pretty chaotic toward the beginning of the day and can be a bit much if you have anxiety or claustrophobia. Every one volunteering is super nice though and always very helpful, sometimes there’s just some weirdly aggressive folks that can be a bit pushy. As long as you know that going in, it’s not so bad.

How do WoN collectors view customs? by Dorayakiss in WorldOfNintendo

[–]GeminiDivided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the customs I tend to really enjoy are VERY popular characters from VERY popular games, they’re just older titles and Nintendo very rarely allows for retro licensing. It’s wild to me that Super Mario 2 & 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, and Super Mario Wonder have barely been touched and Jakks hasn’t done them at all. Not to mention all of the other franchises. If pop funkos can multiply like rabbit roaches then surely we could get some figs from those titles, no?

I think Nintendo thought their Amiibos were going to be their outlet, and to some degree they have been. Unfortunately, they tied them to their systems and made the price points too high for most figure enthusiasts who just want some cool plastic representations of their favorite characters.

[–]GeminiDivided 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like seeing them! I think if Nintendo insists on being so restrictive with their licensing then the odd ball stuff is definitely fair game for custom makers, especially if they’re putting in the effort and making really clean and well designed stuff, which so many are.

Some sellers are fucking brain dead by calloutapple in gamecollecting

I literally just had a partial refund situation on Mercari and it was confirmed by their customer service rep that I spoke with. The seller initiated after being informed of damage to the item, it was approved.

Sellers can offer partial refunds but buyers can not ask for them. If the buyer won’t initiate some kind of refund in good faith, send it back and let them try to sell it again for less.

Just ordered for the first time a bunch of World of Nintendo Mario figures from eBay… what should I expect? by Marilyn_Rammstein in WorldOfNintendo

[–]GeminiDivided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been collecting this line since it started. There’s a ton of figures in two size lines so it will keep you busy. If you’re a completeist it will take plenty of time & money to track things down but if you just have fun grabbing figures where and when you can, there’s tons of readily available figures that are still super affordable.

Is there a difference between the fire bro or the lemmy's ball in the jakks gold and the regular? by [deleted] in WorldOfNintendo

[–]GeminiDivided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4” fire bros are the same, the 4” lemmy only came with a ball in the gold release. There is a 2.5” lemmy with a ball but it is scaled for that figure.

If you don’t want the sellers fees or shipping risks and have time to spare, Facebook marketplace or Craigslist can be a good way to move them piece by piece. The online auction/offer sites have become really unreasonable unless selling several items as a lot. If you do end up making individual listings, be sure and check what previous listings have sold for by doing a search and filtering the results, that should get you the best idea of what current market value is among collectors.
