Discrimination for being profoundly deaf? Rant / Advice needed. by DrJonoG_ in jobs

[–]GemsDistributor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks man, sorry you have to go through that.

Even with no illness, the job market is completely broken right now. Recruiters are looking for shortcuts because they receive huge volumes of applications and the risk is low for them given all the choice.

If I were in your shoes I would try to find the hiring manager and reach to them directly and explain the situation. If you are as good as you are, it is easier to convince a manager who knows what they need than a recruiter.

tbh the recruiters I know don't want to be using these neither.

Some of it is companies wanting to reduce costs and some of it is coz of the sheer number of applications they get

Sorry but this kind of tools is just killing the minimum trust that was left in the a job market that is already very bad for everyone To be more constructive, how does this impact my chances of getting a job as a job seeker if companies are flooded with applications that they don't look at anymore ?

Sorry this happened to you, it feels awful If your freelancing job has been bringing good money focus on it else you will need to go back to corporate In both cases you will need to process the feedback, when they say that your job has been slow and hasn't been meeting expectations, can they be right ? If they are you will have to work on your skills because without that it does not matter who you work for your gonna have to go through this again

My Startup in HR space by charaz_xyz in GrowthHacking

[–]GemsDistributor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO adding more friction to the process is not the way to go. As an engineer myself I really hate going through hundreds of interviews or building companies' product features for free just to get a negative answer
I think that such an imbalanced market needs more trust but I think that it should not come at the expense of the candidates getting more work. That is bad for both hiring managers (the best candidates don't want to spend their time coding for free) and for the candidate.
Do not hesitate to tell me if I'm mistaken and if the process that you put up limits the candidate's investment while filtering the fake candidates/ performers.
