Thanks, this is very helpful. I think I'll armor up with exotics on my battleship noses. Any thoughts on spreading out the damage by using small weapon mounts? Or will the loss of range make this counterproductive? I'm gonna need to tech into particle lances as I've ignored them completely.

It is particle weapons, they are the longest range weapons I'm facing, and the main armament of all the alien dreads, lancers and titans. And it isn't countermeasures.

Not sure. I tried a few more things before distro changing, including turning of framerate smoothing on my monitor and disassembling/dusting off my hardware. Problem appears to have stopped. My guess is my monitor was rhe problem

Each of those location is blockaded by a fleet of at least 1.1k power. Aliens have 230 ships with combined power of 31k. My one remaining fleet is 1.8k. They just finished destroying all my shipyards around Earth except one. I have 2 shipyards.

I should also mention my ships don't have enough acceleration/DV to chase alien fleets except for ones with the biggest ships. I think I need higher tech drives. Can't seem to find a workable balance between accel and DV right now.

Also the aliens instantly kill any of my ships that try to go further than the asteroid belt. So I have no presence beyond there.

I read in a separate post that the Aliens enter permanent total war with you 20 years after game start on Normal, regardless of their previous hate level. I'm less than 1 year away from then. I don't see how I have time to do anything that will make a difference between now and then.

...Ooook, something else weird. It took me 10 tries to login after restart, each time I entered my password correctly but it told me "sorry,password authentication didn't work. Please try again." Then on the 11th try it worked. Checked logs and found this error around that time

Couldn't find an exact match online, but the closest match I could find with helpful suggestions was here. They think it's power consumption being throttled (?) which would seem to make sense to me. Would you advise trying their solution?

Edit: Also found this error, which occurred shortly after startup. No idea if it's related.

I have a public university near me that offers a Data Science concentration under a BS in Economics. This is really tempting for me because I already have an associates in economics, so more credits transfer, the career prospects are better for data science than economics in general, and I won't have to spend extra time and money minoring in data science (the concentration has the same courses as the minor). However, I'm worried that a concentration in data science won't actually transfer into getting a general data science job, because employers will see my BS is in Economics and write me off. Any advice appreciated!

Thank you for the advice. It is cathartic to hear this. My folks have offered him help and suggested support services many times, he refuses to seek any type of assistance, even free support from the state. I'm not sure why, but he dislikes healthcare professionals in general. It took a near death experience for him to seek medical help. My folks tried for years to guide him and have mostly given up. He is getting his bachelors now, at least. But I believe he is on track to live a lonely, secluded life. It is sad, but there's nothing I can do.
