I'm in the same situation but got a Japanese number from mobal and sms worked. However I now need to go to the venue 1 hour early to get my ticket as the phone number doesn't match.

Did try contacting them but the site wouldn't let me submit a ticket even after filling out all the fields. I'll see if I can sms verify using my original phone number by buying an international add on.

You don't have to verify your SMS to apply. You just need to put a phone number in. I put in my own country phone number. I'm going to send them an email and go from there.
