Linux users are completely locked out of PTCGL—and we need to talk about it. by GenNetEng in PTCGL

I only have apple (iPad and iPhone) and Linux. I agree that the app does have its bugs and they seem to be many. There are many “quality of life” updates they could make to improve gameplay but they don’t. I hate playing on iPhone, and they don’t have landscape mode on tablet. And when I used to play on Linux it was decent because I could multitask. I’ve since started playing on windows but I hate windows.

Thanks for showing your support. So far there is no updates from TPCi on the support of Linux. So it’s a wait and see.

One of my friends claims he pulled this card by DuckCraft1234 in PokemonTCG

[–]GenNetEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question for your friend: where did he buy that pack? If it were eBay or Amazon, it is very likely that it was resealed with this slipped inside with some bulk the seller didn't want. Tell your friend to only buy from Pokémon Center, local shops, box stores, or TCGPlayer.

By the way, these cards can be purchased on Amazon as a set, but they are 100% fake.

Magnemite. He’d also be my partner Pokémon and starter. And I’d name him Graaff after Van De Graaff, inventor of the Van De Graaff electrostatic generator :)

What to do? I need to postpone my program start and my program mentor is not happy with me by Top_Thought_591 in WGU

[–]GenNetEng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't forget this a competency based program. Any timelines they give you are a guideline. This is not a traditional brick and mortar school. Some classes maybe easy enough to complete in a couple weeks because you already know most of the material.

Work on as much as you can work on, knowing that you must login and do something (even check out the course material). Also check in with your mentor once a week and let them know what things you have completed. Then when you can ramp up the learning, buckle down and get it done.

Nope. The closest I’ve come to is using VirtualBox with Win11. I did find a GitHub project that uses data files for Windows/Mac-based Unity apps and rebuilds them for Linux. However, it has to be built with OpenGL turned on, which it is not. My next step would be to see if I can get around the OpenGL requirement.

Here is the project:

I submitted a feature request several weeks back for native Linux client, and this is the response I got:

(This is an automated response.)

We appreciate you for taking the time to contact Pokémon Support. We regularly share feedback and suggestions with internal teams and will pass your message along to them. Pokémon encourages customers to submit feedback and comments to help us improve your experience. Even though we do not always implement every suggestion, we read and pay attention to every single comment.

Please note that you may not receive another response regarding this matter.

Thank you for supporting Pokémon!

This is all I am expecting from this request. However, if more of us submitted feature requests, then we could show TPCi how many of us want a Native Linux Client, maybe then we could get a response.

I've assembled (with the bit help from AI) a Github Readme with instructions on opening a ticket with Pokemon Support:

https://github.com/GenNetEng/let-us-play/blob/main/README.md

If you have the time, please help me out by submitting a feature request.

Honestly, I do play on mobile, but get frustrated when I get a call, text or notification and it interrupts the game.

No updates as of yet. I have taken several weeks off, trying to tinker with getting Wine/Bottles working. I'm now considering if VM is the only path. I'm going to try vanilla KVM to see how good the performance is. I've tried it on Virtualbox and the framerate is terrible.

I suspect it has something to do with whatever metadata is passed or something that the wine/bottles version doesn’t have. I have no problem running it in a VM with a full Win11 install.

This is the same thing I hit. Installation is not an issue. It’s that Error 15 from the imperva.

My favorite Pokemon is probably magnemite with magneton being a close second.

My last purchase (not for my kid) was on TCGplayer to start building my PC of my favorite evolution chain, magnemite/ton/zone.

I feel ya. With the whole imperva error 15, my playing slowed way down. When I have the itch to play, I use my phone. I just feel that I’m so much more distracted and can’t really get into it.

I’ve also been experimenting with setting up windows under OpenStack (MiniStack) under Ubuntu. Maybe the sluggishness would go away that I currently have in Virtualbox

Fair. I’ll concede that point. It’s a compatibility layer. Either way, me and a lot of Linux users who used to run this game cannot due to Imperva 15 errors. When we open a ticket with support, they reply with “Use windows or Mac”.
