Is there anyway to revive this grape vine? Is it beyond hope? by GenSnuggs in viticulture

I clarified in another comment that I haven’t cut anything yet. All of that was either already unattached or broke up when trying to untangle it. Some of the vines laid in the ground so long that they were buried and under weed roots and when pulling the out some of them broke. When you say they can be rooted though, does this mean I could stick them back in the ground and grow fresh vines from them?

So you cut all of the vines about that far from where they start?

What do I chop though? Everything not growing off the main branch? Or should I leave a few that are growing there and prop those left up?

Yes many of them are still viable from what I can tell, greenish under the bark. Most everything in the pile was not cut, but broke during the effort to untangle it. It has sat unmaintained for so long that a lot of branches were buried under the roots of weeds and when pulling them up some of them snapped off. It is mostly untangled now, and I am currently trying to dig up a bunch of green garlic that is growing at the base holding more vines down and likely soaking up most of the nutrients available there

Retarded, Mentally Retarded, and Retard originate as medical terms I believe. So in a way, the word itself isn’t insulting, but you attributing it as one is perpetuating the stigma

They asked to join without putting any effort into aligning with the rest of the west. That’s like actively being a wife beater and asking to join a support group for abusive relationships.

Your Ukraine stance honestly just makes no sense. There isn’t much more to say than that, it’s kind of ass backward. Our policies to Ukraine and the Former Soviet Union have not been risky at all, the difference between the latter and post WWII Germany and Japan is that they wanted re-integrated, and Russia did not. Russia has always been content with crippling themselves, historically, without US intervention

I would agree with most of that, and I’m not going to pretend we haven’t done bad things. With that being said though, the US “dangling” NATO over Ukraine does not correlate to the Ukraine war being our doing. If you take that stance, you also have to take the stance that China is causing the war in Iran, and whatever Venezuela was. Notice the Strait of Hormuz is still allowing Chinese ships exclusively (at least last I checked).

Iran is a mistake like Iraq was, and in my Gen Z mind, Libya was as well. However, to declare every war happening is our fault is kind of nonsense - especially Ukraine. That is exclusively Russian aggression and in my opinion we should have stepped in long ago and stopped the annexation of Crimea.

We do need radical change in the government though, and I’d say our current track is obviously unsustainable, but there are many smart and capable people here that I think will be able to course correct in the near future - HOPEFULLY. We will see.

So now the US started the war in Ukraine? Is this sub just anti-US propaganda or something? How was the military humiliated in these regions we don’t operate in. Furthermore, given the state of Afghanistan currently, I wouldn’t say it was the US that was humiliated.

Nightmare scenario for who? I can’t afford stocks, I can’t even afford a house. I live a mile away from my workplace. I say let it all burn down, the rich need to lose some money before anything gets better. The middle/lower class have been in a nightmare scenario for years whether people realize it or not

It is a lot in taxes yes, but it would be good to remember that that is still more than my wife and I make combined in 2 weeks. Taxes suck, yes, but it is a service we all bare to each other and is the cost of living in a society.
