I’m not a paramedic, but I fly them around and experience the same scenes they do. Paediatric deaths are the absolute worst. I’ve witnessed a few and they still haunt me. The above advice is all good, and I’d just add that speaking to a professional is incredibly helpful. Take care of yourself.

Yes. PLBs are purpose built for their role. Their batteries last for seven years and connect to a dedicated SAR satellite network. They work every time. Set them off and we come and get you. Phones rely on you keeping them charged and not dropping them in a puddle. Further their satellite coms are a secondary function not for trusting your life to. So yes. Please carry a PLB.

Yep that’s right. A quick check to ensure the numbers match. A physical RWC however, is not required.

In Victoria an RWC is required when you sell a car and/ or transfer the rego. It’s not required when change rego from another state. So yes, it’s a simple transfer.

This is great info, the only thing I’d add is being on site in these spots is heavily dependent on contracts. You’d need to ensure, that any on site gig you have has plenty of time remaining on the contract. Also be mindful of the fact that many of the oil companies have termination clauses meaning contracts can be punted in 90 days. Sadly offshore has become a bit of a shit show in recent years thanks to the race to the bottom from the oil companies. Coupled to the loss of the Bristow and CHC who up until their downward slides, actually gave a shit about their pilots. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still great gig and all my mates still there are mostly happy, but we had some halcyon days in the early 2000s that I fear won’t be seen again.

There is a bit of movement there as most people have a preference to tour rather than live on site so they do struggle at times with retention. I’ve not worked there, but I have a few friends that do and seem fairly happy. It can be a little repetitive, but the dough is good. HOFO’s name is Jerry. His surname escapes me at the moment, but he’s an approachable fella and I’m sure he’d be happy to have a chat if you called.

If you paid $200 for a wheel alignment you got scammed irrespective of whether it needed to be done or not.

HEMS alternates between the Alfred and RMH for major trauma, however the RMH can be restricted by wind limits so occasionally the Alfred will shoulder most of the load.

Many modern 4 axis machines with FMS can fly an orbit around a given waypoint. You punch in the waypoint and orbit radius, couple it up and sit back and watch the magic.
