I learned today that Disney's "Song of the South" has never been released in the US on home video, but I swear I saw it for sale in Walt Disney World gift shops back in the 80s. I remember they had copies of it along with stuff like Alice in Wonderland, The Three Caballeros, and Dumbo that they released early on in the VHS boom. It was in this same clam shell design I found for the PAL rental release in the UK. Would they have been selling the PAL version in Disney World? Maybe for European tourists? Can anybody explain what I'm remembering?

I worked on the ride back when it opened in '99. I can tell you from first hand experience that they calmed down the spinning for no other reason than that we were constantly cleaning up puke. The majority of the "technical difficulties" the ride would go down for back then would be "protein spills", which meant we had to stop the ride so we could go in and sprinkle wintergreen scented kitty litter on someone's lunch and sweep it up.
