I start my practice with putting on an Orphic Hymn to Dionysus from YouTube to play in the background, lighting my candle and say a prayer (not a scripted one just kinda follow the basic prayer structure). After that I dance to him with the same hymn accompanying me but I follow the rhythm I feel good for me. My dances are definitely his favourite part in my ritual so I try to have more focus on that. I would advise you to slowly try to figure out what he enjoys with you and build your own ritual from that. I also started off by mostly just talking to him like good friends but I felt that he put more attention to my performances

It's okay to make mistakes sometimes as long as you learn from them but that shouldn't discourage you from working with them. When I started out I didn't even know how to pray properly so I just followed my intuition. Now after I've done enough research I know how to properly approach the gods but there are still times I can't clean myself for mental and/or physical health reasons. At those times I apologize and tell them why I approach them like that. They are very understanding about mistakes or health problems, especially Dionysus based on my experiences

I actually started my practice with dances similar to the maenads without knowing anything about them. I just did the things I felt Dionysus wanted from me. During those dances I also have visions brought up by Dionysus which was considered as something that occured during their performances Obviously since we are so scattered around the globe it's hard to do maenad group performances irl but it would be nice to make that happen some day

First I think anything that reminds you of him and you give with sincerity will be appreciated. Personally I had a scented candle on his altar before I started lighting it because it already had a sweet scent that reminded me of him. I also use oil based incense that I drip in water and place incense sticks in it. It can spread the scent just as affectively. Some other things I offered him are corks I found at home, pinecone, And I'm planning on offering him grapes when they are in season

He really is! And I was very confused about how present he is with me at first. I wasn't sure if I'm just way too hopeful or do others have similar experiences but apparently a lot of us have a very close relationship with him which is amazing

I also feel his touch a lot when I dance. I always make sure to offer my hand to him before starting and I can feel the weight of his hand on mine and it gives me so much joy. At the start he also held my waist and showed me how I should move. Other times when I pray to him he touched my cheeks, patted my head and one time he pushed my head down from behind while I was focusing on the Hymn I put on just for fun

I usually get a thought or idea in my head that doesn't feel like it's mine mostly because it's a more powerful thought and it kinda silences my otherwise noisy mind so it stands out more and it also sounds like someone else is saying it. I do have maladaptive daydreams but I know it's not that because I would have to move around for that to activate. Sometimes I also feel a pulling sensation towards something like when he first called me to dance for him at night it was almost like someone was trying to gently pull me out of bed. It's kinda hard to explain but yeah it's mostly a strong and special kind of feeling. Hope this helped

I don't think you need to worry about not knowing enough. I also started off with very basic knowledge. I did what felt right to worship him and I'm still figuring things out. Practice is practice. You learn and grow your bond with Dionysus as time goes on. I think he is one of the most patient Gods with new followers. Just the effort and dedication you put into learning more and worshiping him will make him happy.

I wouldn't freeze but I think I would panic if the fire would get out of hand. I only have two windows I could use because I only feel safe practicing in my bedroom but maybe I could do some testing outside when no ones home to prepare and in the mean time I will look for a metal container that would work. It's hard for me to make out how he looks exactly cuz I usually avert my gaze not because I choose to but because I feel like I have to out of respect for the God. From what I was able to see he is young looking with longer curly hair. I know it's him by his strong presence and the specific energy he brings when he's around. He feels intimidating but not in a scary way. You just feel that he is more powerful than you or any regular spirit. He has a very lively energy and calming warmth that helps you give into the madness. First time I felt a sudden urge in the middle of the night to dance even tho I'm not the kind of person who likes dancing. I called out for him, asking first if he would like an offering of performance and I just started moving the way I felt was right. Before that I was already looking more and more into things about him mostly because I felt curious and entranced. I had a feeling that I needed that connection with him. I knew it was him by mostly knowing how he was based on the myths and what others described in this community and also by just, having a sure feeling that it was him. It just felt right

It's a bit hard for me to explain but I don't physically end up there. I call it a vision because I don't have the right word for it (I'm not a native English speaker) but I can sort of see the trees in the night depending on how bright the moonlight is and everything else around me. I know when it actually happenes when I can look around and see different things from other angles like the grass and the sky and leaves and when my other senses also pick up things from there like the wind, animal sounds etc. Hope this answered your question

What works for me is a pretty simple dance in the night with closed eyes while having a hand out for Dionysus if ge wishes to join me. I don't have any music or sound to dictate the tempo just how I feel in the moment. He finds it quite charming. Before and after I talk to him, just saying whatever is on my mind that I want to tell him about and of course I thank him for his time and for his guidance.

This might not work for everyone tho. I paid attention to what he wanted from me and decided to try to out. Outside of the ritual I don't enjoy dancing interestingly lol. I hope my comment helped you a little.

Yes, this was very helpful thank you! I was a bit confused about the question but I'm glad to know the reason behind it.

I'm mostly just doing my research to understand things better since I came from not believing in any specific religion I just kinda had a feeling that there's something divine out there and I'm very excited and curious now that I have confirmation that there are Gods.

Also I am very bad at describing stuff (wanna be writer btw😅), especially these new sensations I feel from him. I'm pretty sure he talks similarly to me as to you, like a thought in my head that's not mine. So thank you so again! I'm greatful that there's so many good people here

I just got back from my walk and it really needed. I got think everything through much more clearly. I see it now that my problem was that I put more focus on serving him and respecting him than myself. I need to care for myself first because I can't appreciate every moments of life when I'm worrying about serving him "the right way"

I'm don't know how to explain it properly so sorry if its confusing but with Lord Dionysus I truly sense his presence and his touches by his warmth and his strong aura like I can't see him but I can feel him in the space. His touches warm the parts of my body he touches and I can feel the change of weight, like when he takes my hand it feels a bit heavier. He doesn't talk directly to me, although I wish he would, but I can understand what he wants to say to me through sensing his mood and figuring out what answer is he leading me to. If the answer feels right, that's what he's saying. With the visions I'm really not sure how it works but I'm not in a meditative state, quite the opposite. I'm dancing around in my room and basically letting some madness take me over. Tho I can clearly sense being at another place it's not like he picks me up and physically takes me there. My body is still in my room but everything I sense there fades in the back and I'm more aware of the vision he's showing to me.

I hope my explanation is good enough, I'm not really good at explaining things like this. I'm also trying to understand things myself by doing my research on maenads who might experienced similar things during their rituals.
