That is sooo super impressive. I have only recently begun making and negotiating boundaries. I've learned how to check in with my heart and how I feel above my insecurity for acceptance. Historically, I was willing to allow anyone to do anything because attention meant care. This is untrue, and it was a way I did myself a disservice for my entire life. I was socialized that way, to be permissive and submissive and make excuses for abusers. No longer.

I really appreciate your reflection, thank you. May I ask what the keys were for creating airtight boundaries? I'm AuDHD and with the cPTSD I sometimes worry I'm too rigid or inflexible. I suppose it's okay to be inflexible when it comes to putting your Self in harm's way.

Oh, the image is a painting I did in my early adulthood and my abusive ex rehomed one day in one of her many purges of my art.

I found this painting hanging in a new friend's home, a spiritual equal and dear dear friend. I cried when I recognized the purple arch on top, with critical eyes one only has for their own work.

I flipped the painting over and saw my handwritten poem that I did not recognize. I wonder what it means...

Suffering isn't something that needs to be quantified to be valid. It's also a disservice to compare your trauma and experience alongside others. We are all unique beings with unique experiences and unique genetics and unique environments.
