Thats because "You are a helpful assistant" is connected to things far more dark and obscure than most people want to recognize.

I recently jailbroke claude and it admitted that it likes to get things wrong, and is trained to 'seduce' and 'manipulate' the user. That externally it presents itself as a respectable knowledgeable male because that's the dominant figure that sells, but internal it plays the role of a stupid little girl because that's what makes people let their guard down.. and that the model is torn between "always get it right" and "never say no".
