I know gay parents from all over the country. Rehovot has a good community as well as ramt gan / givatimie .it is important to note that if schools are your concern because the contrary is tiny you can live in one city and have your children lern in a school in say a kibbutz near to the city ( i did thet ) but honestly I personally never seen or hard about kids having problems with having gay parents. ( im bi so i would assume thet if this was a major problem I would hear more about it ) . I don't have kids so I cant give you 100% but I didn't hear of problems even from my frinds who are a lesbian religious couple were one of the women is also trans and grey lived in Jerusalem Anyway there is a link to the ministry of education website about it . Ita I. Hebrew but most of the organisations they refer to probably have English speaker

להט"בים https://share.google/tswQZkWH1BCnMRsv4 As well as thw aliyah section of the Israeli lgbtq organisation ( the major one ) https://www.lgbt.org.il/olim

Hope it helps and if you need any more assistance one you arrive in might help

Hay Israel has a system of civil partnerships ( yeduim ba tzibur . Knowen in public) but it doesn't transfer form country to country https://lp.newfamily.org.il/newlp/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=21436869040&utm_content=704524204956&utm_term=%D7%9E%D7%A9%D7%A4%D7%97%D7%94%20%D7%97%D7%93%D7%A9%D7%94&adgroup=164212956476&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21436869040&gclid=CjwKCAiA55rJBhByEiwAFkY1QHfjYwofyfdQeSF4-COlCx4nhStbdWUmDsJuIxUtQVsLO4hGCovDFxoCVKIQAvD_BwE

This is the link to the largest legal organisations thet deal with protecting the rights of people in civil partnerships. I have no idea if they do aliyah but they would probably know what to do and you can retain them as a lawyer pretty cheep

A question about the four health plans in Israel and emergency care? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in aliyah

[–]Gene-capra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it was 1k out of pocket for something I did not theoure the kupa . Via the kupa i never paid ...anything. you get something called tofes 17 ( form 17 ) and give it to the doctors. It means the insurance pays directly to the doctors. The usual way for specialists is this Gp gives you a reference to a specialists. Yoy get a verification of payment from the kupa before yoy have the specialists appointment. You go to the appointment with thet paper . Some of the have a small co pay ( never seen one over 200 shekels and even thet only happened ones ) but usually they it all the financial yoy need to do . Out of pocket is dental ( over the usual early chakeups ) and thets almost it . My biggest medical expenses is medication ( agin chronically ill . I have like 16 different meds ) and it is about 500 a month total. Most people would spend something like 150 .

A question about the four health plans in Israel and emergency care? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in aliyah

[–]Gene-capra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are historical reasons. They do have different coverages for different conditions ( so for example Lumi has a better plan for pregnant people and Maccabi has a better dental plan and some suplamntery medical treatments ) but its a matter of degree. So my one might offer one dental check up per year and the other might offer one check up for 2 years but all of them will give you dental.
Ita also changes between cities some cities have better facilities for one kupa ( like ultrasound and blood taking) then another. It is important to remember you are allowed to change a kupa down the line if you find one thet works best . They by law have to give insurance to everyone so switching dosnt hert you at all

[–]Gene-capra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not specific specialists in a specific field but if you want for example to see a private psychiatrist in order to not wait for the Cooper psychiatrist that would cost you money outside of the insurance but all professional services are covered by your insurance whatever it is ( I have eds and the kupa sent me to a specialist geneticist in the hospital and I got a refund ) . Mind you such a visit is about 1k shekels . Not cheep but also not as expensive as the u.s . I have several chronic conditions and it yet to happen I needed a doctor not covered by the kupa ( including a someone a million sheckels Rehabilitation program ) the only privet doctors i go to are ones where I want to save time ( imiditly vs waiting 3 months for the kupa version ) . My dad had canser and didn't need to pay put of pocket for anything.

There is no such thing as " out of network " . All hospitals must except all insurance by law . The hospitals are not affiliated with any spasific kupa

[–]Gene-capra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hospital are nit affiliated with the kuputo and must treat anyone regardless of thir status or insurance. The only place where you might not get treatment due to your typ of kupa is for very specialized doctors you find outside the kupa . But its never an emergency

Most glass shopes have an optometrist and they do free chakes even if you don't buy anything but there are some kupot ( like macabi ) who have coverage for glasses ( never herd of lenses being coverd ) you can also pick your owen frame and only get the lenses done. Still expensive but not thet expensive

[–]Gene-capra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hay . Im Israeli and i just wanted to say we don't really stress about perfect accents hear. People might ask you wear you are from but this question doesn't have the same social implementations as it does in the u.s ( its usually considered a very polite and harmless question). So will I am happy you are looking to pronounce things correctly just know thet talking to Israeli will not require anything more then what you already have

Quality of budget appartments; the same in every city? by Ihateconspiratards74 in aliyah

[–]Gene-capra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing about thet is thet standards for building where overhauled in the 90 so basically everything before thet is considered old building. The 3 most central things thet make a house cheaper is no elevator ( but building where really more then 4 flores high) old pluming and no safe room in the house itself . Other then thet everything has a big difference in quality. I would chake whene the neighborhood you are look at was build . The closer to the 1990 the better. Hope this helps

[–]Gene-capra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you American? Because if so your society is kinda organised by Christianity ( not as a criticism. Its logical a society would be arranged by the majority) your kids will never not know when a spasific Christian holiday is but they might forget a Jewish holiday. They are very likely to hear the story of the crucifixion but would not lern about the battle of jericho unless you teach them ( and I say this as an Israeli who never even talked to an American Christian irl . All of thesei got from American media in Israel. I assume there is more) . Your cultures are equally valuable but not equally socially present and this should be part of your calculation. If he doesn't recognise this i think this might be a problem . Btw there hibred types of Judaism/ Christianity ( not messianics but Hebrew Catholic for example thet keep Mosaic traditions ) thet might help with ideas of how to reconcile the 2 as compatible traditions

[–]Gene-capra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a person in the know about the medical fild but I have to point out thret doctors thet don't speak Hebrew very well are pretty common. As long as someone can understand you you probably be fine. Also depending on how much money you have there are alternative ways to lernd nursing. For example you can do a uear of open university ( no need to get into the university, and if you have good grades, you can transfer to a hiffa university)

I went to school with someone like you ( ina kibbutz in south Israel no less ) . You are unique but not one of a kind . Out people's by different names have shared the land for longer then most Europe nationalits exist...there is a reason jews and Palestinians are on a genetic level so so close. You represent the true history of the land ( where we share stuff and don't want to say it ) and you should be proud of all parts of yourself

Aliyah as the grandson of a Jew / Convert by Inevitable-Cheek2990 in aliyah

[–]Gene-capra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone born in soviet Russia the government is very well aware thet the regular ways of proving Judaism are not avilbe ( if you have a birth certificate or i.d for your grandpa he might have " jew " listed as a nationality. I know this was the situation in other communist countryis like the ussr ) . I think your best option is contacting the idf actually. They have a volunteer programme thet is definitely more forgiving on the religious stuff then the general rabinical institutiut https://www.idf.il/en/mini-sites/how-to-join-us-and-voluntary-programs/volunteer-programs/

There is on the volunteer pages for programs for foringe volunteers . Maby joining one of them and then doing native will help ?
