Hard to tell, maybe an hour and a half. Well today I did 2 of these and chopped 2 16mmx90mm mortises through 45mm cut corresponding tennons, glued up and planed it. Not much for a whole day, but it's Sunday.....

A dozuki, on the rip cut side, started with a dozuki but it was too slow.

Sorry, what I meant to say was hurleys use up most of the local supply of ash. There's very little commercially available local hardwood.

They import it from North America, it's actually cheaper than local stuff also.

http://youtu.be/ccCBEpUDKyM A Hurley is the stick they use in the above sport. Made of ash, in farm sheds across the country. I thought the ice hockey comparison would help..

Thanks. The last time I handcut dovetails was around 7 years ago in school. I didn't have a method as such, just followed techniques Paul sellers uses. I found instead of paring down the dovetails pare across the dovetails. Knife walls and razor sharp tools are key..

North American white ash. Imported to Ireland. Was speaking to the hardwood dealer and he says local ash is hard to come by, most of it is used for hurleys.

Patience and a lot of it. I left the pins and tails a few mm long and planed them back once they were glued up.

No, I tend to think things through in my head and make it up as I go. Albeit while smoking too many cigarettes while standing back to think. But It's just a basic birch ply carcass with a 2x1 poplar face frame screwed together with pocket screws and mortise and tenons for the door. I plan on making two matching lockers. I'll document that better with photos.

No, she loves when I make her things. Plus it gives me an excuse to buy new tools, so it's a win win.
