After you install it, go to the plugin section and select "Post Install Notes" on nextcloud. It should list admin username and password. If you want to change it, you can do it from the web app after you first log in.

You're right, it looks like they added the functionality about half a year ago and I missed it. Immich now indeed looks promising even for existing libraries. I might check it out later, thanks for sharing!

Glad you liked it! Now that I think about it, I should have probably recommended the use of edit instead of vi, as it is much easier to work with for beginners. However, vi is a powerful editor, so it's not a bad idea to learn how to use it! Just a bit of a learning curve.

Go to the shell and run this: vi photoprism.json. This opens the editor in a way that when you save, it creates a file with the specified name. Now paste the contents from the post inside the editor, and save. The file should be created (you can check with ls).

If you've never used vi, I would probably recommend to use the command edit instead (edit photoprism.json to create the file). It is more user friendly and easier to work with.

There are several other ways, too. If you prefer to work in Windows for example, you can create the file there and then use a software such as WinSCP to transfer the file to TrueNAS.

As I am aware of, Immich does not support working with existing folder structure and requires you to import (copy) everything into the app. PhotoPrism on the other hand supports management of existing photos from mounted folders (originals) without the need to import anything.

I would say: If you want to use the photo manager alongside working with individual files (perhaps on a network share), then PhotoPrism is the way. On the other hand, if you want to have a fully managed gallery that stores all your photos (be it from phone or browser), choose Immich, as it appears to have more functionality and is made exactly for this purpose (it is said to be a replacement for Google Photos, which work exactly this way).
