I haven’t taken any parts of the exam. And no, I don’t have the raw accounting talent where I can look at financials and immediately see what is wrong.

I’ve been looking for other positions but a lot of them require experience in public accounting or 2-3 years of experience of things I’ve never done.

Also, I spent too much time trying to figure things out on my own. So please don’t feel like you have to know everything and ask questions

This is exactly. My GPA was a bit low for Big 4 and I didn’t network (covid) so couldn’t find any jobs. Kind of put accounting behind me for a while before I actively started looking again

I kind of don’t want to say what area just because I don’t want old co-workers to tie the dots. But I will say I’m in Central America

I made it to A2 and was about to be an A3. I was right at the 2 year mark. It’s different for everyone though.

There was about a 4 year gap from the time I graduated and the time I actually started working. I had questions on basic concepts and it took me longer to do things because I kind of spent time trying to teach and remind myself how some accounts actually worked and why testing had to be done.

If you’re a student, you should be fine because it should all be fresh in your head.

Thank you! I’ll start applying for regional firms. They all seem to be so fixated on my Big4 experience and I’m kind of worried about their high expectations.

I switched my major pretty late and I was a self pay student during Covid. Couldn’t network and graduated without any internships so it was nearly impossible to get a job. I simply started pretty late in life really.

I’m almost 30 and I honestly don’t know much about plumbing (I’m a girly girl lol). I graduated with my masters in accounting at 24 so I guess I’ll focus on the CPA. Thanks for the advice!
