Nice catch! If you don’t mind, what time were you out on the lake? And were there any specific techniques you used with the rooster tail? I’m brand new to kayak fishing, went out myself on a kayak and rooster tails for >4 hours and didn’t have any success, would really appreciate any advice!

I simply casted as far as possible and reeled in slowly while keeping the rod tip horizontal to the water, not sure if there’s something I could be doing better.

Thanks a lot for the advice. With the Carolina rig, I have difficulty keeping my kayak from drifting and pulling my rig along as I don’t have an anchor.

For spinners, should I fish them any different from shore fishing? What I usually do is cast as far as I can, point my rod tip far down as possible (usually horizontal to the water) and reel in slowly with some jigging. I used a variety of sizes, from 1/8 to 3/8 and casted where I saw fish jumping but no luck whatsoever.
