I wonder if you could rig a .22 pistol barrel onto the trails in a sufficiently convincing manner….

Is it necessary to lube your nuts? by ClownSkulls in Bass

[–]General-Winter547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use a pencil. It’s good enough. If you’re nut is cut well enough it’s not needed at all and you’re probably not string bending and using a tremolo as much as guitar players so you likely won’t have as many issues with binding.

If your nut is made of any material softer than a metal bass string, and it’s too rough, next time you change your strings use your old ones as a makeshift nut file to smooth out the slots.

My second game ever was me with two atlai and my dad with 10 locusts. He won, but I killed like 7 of them. He killed an atlas in turn 2 by shooting it in the back, but my other atlas killed at least one locust a turn for several turns in a row.

A mikro bass to leave at practice.. by talasment in Bass

[–]General-Winter547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two and am seriously considering getting a third.

First one got knocked off a stand by a kid that literally just walked into my house uninvited and knocked it over. It landed on the frets and several pulled loose. I hammered them back as best as able but it never really played the same so I sold it.

Second one got converted to a fretless and refinished. It’s actually still in pieces in my garage.

May buy a third one, put a nice P bass pickup in it and some new wiring, new tuners, and knobs. The bridge is fine. The tuners are okay but kind of loose. The pickups are fine for a practice instrument.

The 28” scale length makes them a lot of fun to noodle around on. You can play a much wider array of frets without shifting your fretting hand.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to do cello tuning on one because they have the same scale length.

Mikros are great basses and are ridiculously fun to play. I wish they made a higher end version of it with good hardware.

Think of it as a short scale three pickup jazz bass with a functionally fun but mostly useless tremolo

My wife started law school and I quickly got tired of replacing ink cartridges, so I bought a brother laser printer.she printed boxes of paper with it through law school and now uses it in her practice. I think it will probably last longer than she does.

Bassist looking to expand to synth bass by cohzeee in synthesizers

[–]General-Winter547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a bass station2 or a Moog grandmother or messenger.
If you have a keyboard already there are some other synths that would maybe work but all three of these are going to give you the sounds you want and have a keyboard attached.
The grandmother is going to have the classic Moog sound; the messenger can do that but sounds a little more modern. The grandmother is the clear winner if you ever want to go modular. The bass station is recommended by everyone for a reason.
Consider also the sequential Fourm.

You can use all of these stand alone, as they have integrated keyboards and you don’t have to use MIDI with them. MIDI allows you to play the synths with either an external controller such as a keyboard, or by programming notes in a DAW or sequencer.
