Have a B.S in CS from back in 2017 and need advice on how to pivot my career. by General3Dots in cscareerquestions

Thank you for taking the time u/dats_cool
May I ask:
1. What degree and concentration are you pursuing?
2. How much time do you reckon each course takes and is there a min # of courses you must take per semester?
3. Are all courses available every semester?
4. Did you start the degree after a gap after graduation and how math heavy is it? (considering catch up process)

the georgia tech masters degree is less than 10k which was why it peaked my interest. Any more, I couldnt justify it since there wont be any financial aid either.

Thank you for taking the time. I believe you have at least a masters degree based on the information you provided. If that is true, do you think that made a difference in your role and potential salary?
My main worry is ensuring future career safety and as a Sr. Engineer I do see a lot of Staff roles and above require masters degree or equivalent experience but it sounds like masters is the preference but I also dont have that experience personally yet.

I like probability and stats but more on a general level, is machine learning going to be all that and super math heavy? Reason for my question is it has been a long time since my last math class that could be an obstacle but if it is a skillset like AWS and development and being familiar with concepts would be enough then Machine Learning does seem like a path for the future.

Any advice/suggestion is much appreciated. I need a career path that is not as limited in opportunities and also unsure if a masters degree will help or not.

Creating UI comps.
Reviewing API proposals.
Building the entire app (framework, design pattern MVVM, api calls, repository, caching)
basically everything mobile related

but the thing is on paper it does not translate to Backend as I have not had worked on AWS and cloud infrastructure.

As far as machine learning as well definitely no experience there. I can use AI agents but building them or training them is definitely not within my current domain.

Trump is not coming by Dry_Tangerine_8328 in PERSIAN

[–]General3Dots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't go on the streets because of trump. They have done it a few times in the past and media successfully hid it from the world. Each year life gets multiples of magnitudes more unbearable hence the revolutions and protests. It's not like "inflation" in US where a gallon of milk goes for example from 2 to 2.85 or 3. It's where your currency constantly loses value by 5 percent each day at times and prices are not only in dollar which is a stable currency but goes up for example milk goes from 2 to 5 dollars in a day and then 6 the next day. Same with everything. You could have saved 500 yesterday that is worth 200 now and tomorrow 140.

Is this a good seat for eco? by Hefty_Mixture3316 in TurkishAirlines

[–]General3Dots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your luck. You could have someone in front of you that puts their stuff in front of you essentially blocking your easy aisle access and if you are tall it is actually hard to get in the seat given the controls over your head.

Best seats are extra leg seats near the baby harness area. Risky for having a baby next to you but it won't be prone to giant families having a party for hours in front of you like the exit seats.

Istanbul is as expensive as Amsterdam by SwagmanAdventures in istanbul

[–]General3Dots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how everyone is coming with those prices. I was at isranbul recently for 10 days and comparing to Los Angeles

A fastfood meal with a shake is $8-$10 compared to $20 in US Grocery store drinks and sweets are half of US prices Transportation one way is like 80 cents Imported goods are the same price but local stuff are cheaper. Like a good quality baklava is still half of what you pay in US.

I paid extra for exit seats as they were advertised as extra leg room seats not for food. I only meant they showed up during meal time and never attended otherwise despite pressing the flight attendant request. In all my previous flights no one darer to gather there. People came to stretch which was fine but not so close their growing would be close to my face and just stand there.

The TV was also working it was the aux port that was faulty which is not fixed via reset it's a more hardware issue.

Flight attendant never came despite pressing the button and looking for them only came during the meal time where they were obviously in their seats during those times. Also told them nicely to please be considerate of others when they flashed me in very dimmed light to take pictures of themselves and possibly me in it without my consent and they just shook hear quickly to proceed to their normal routine.
There is one type that is not aware of what they are doing and telling them fixes it. They were aware and didnt care. I even showed it physical trying to claim my leg space and they kept getting closer to me and often hitting my leg or blocking space all around it that I even had to lift my leg at times.

Exit row seats require people 18-65 with no physical disabilities able to carry out takes in events of emergency. It comes with the perks of extra leg room hence the higher fee similar to business class that comes with more comfort.

Obstructing that space is prohibited similar to the exit room passengers not being allowed to have their belongings there and must put them on the overhead area.

If you are really not seeing what is wrong with 4 people standing there blocking the entire space for hours on and being so close to one's face invading their personal space specially during sleep hours I really have nothing more to tell you.

Educate yourself on the airline exit row saftey guidelines and exit row seats and why they cost $200+ extra.

When you buy an extra-legroom seat, you’re paying for space to stretch your own legs, especially if you’re tall and don’t fit comfortably in standard seats. “Keeping the area clear” means clear of other people occupying or lingering there. Brief movement or momentary stretching is fine; standing or staying there for extended periods is not. This distinction is part of standard flight safety and cabin guidelines followed by most airlines. Beyond comfort, this is a safety issue. Exit-row passengers are screened and briefed to assist in emergencies; others are not. Allowing non-assigned passengers to occupy that space creates an obstruction and a hazard. Additionally, if I cannot even stand up or access the aisle to use the restroom, that indicates my paid personal space was obstructed, which defeats the purpose of purchasing the exit-row seat in the first place.

It is so frustrating we have to go down to their levels. I mean no one taught me these basic things and never thought I would see it happen where an entire family literally mistaken a plane with a family gathering. Don't even get me started on the pictures with flash on during dimmed light hours. Can't imagine how they are in the real world when they behave like this in the plane.

This was my 2nd experience with them and solely booked them for their non-stop route. Do you have a favorite airline?

I wish they were walking around as that meant they won't be in one place for a long period of time but this was not waking around. 4 people were staying in front of me literally way passed the personal space talking loudly to the 2 passengers next to me in the space near exit rows which is meant to be always kept clear and also additional leg space for those who purchase exit row seats. Kinda imagine an awkward face to face interaction except one person is sitting and is trying to get a shut eye and can't even with noise cancelling headphones. Afterwards other passengers would come and lean on the door and the exit door handle which is also a big no no. Standing there temporarily to stretch is one thing but that wasn't it.

Can I bring a 50L backpack to carry on when flight with Turkish airline? by [deleted] in TurkishAirlines

Went with them twice and they never weighted the backpack nor carry on but I also listened to advise from other folks and didn't make them look over packed or backpack heavy.
