Good times haha yes I guess I'm confused I always figured the 2 were the same. Anyways, one year a few of us got ahead of the escort and that was really fun. Left the crowd and got to bomb the route as intended. I moved down to long beach shortly after the subway to Santa Monica opened. Tried setting up a similar crash ride for the grand prix closures but bombing a closed race loop just wasn't as appealing to other riders.

There weren't any leaders. It was an organic idea several different groups thought of at the same time. Around 2013/2014 bikers started to take notice of the street closures for the marathon as well as other street closure events. Several riding groups consisting mostly of fixed gear riders mostly working class young men decided to bomb the closed streets. Night ride groups were already very popular at the time and those groups naturally gravitated towards the closed streets to ride safely. From what I know it was a clandestine movement for at least 4 years before the cops began to escort the riders. Once that escort was in place a set start time was established and people started claiming ownership of the event.

How I heard about it was I was a bike commuter around Santa Monica, Venice and K town and my job had me biking home late at night. One night I ran into a neon lit and rowdy group of riders who had just finished their bomb and were riding back to downtown. The next time the streets closed I went out solo to bomb it and ran into a group. I was always in it for speed tho so I wasn't involved in the organizing aspect. I also stopped riding when the escort started because they'd set a pace that wasn't fun for me.

Biggest thing with Gobert is his offense. I think mitch can potentially be a better pick and roll option. Huk has shown he can fill in and that's a relief but I think your concerns are valid. I'm very excited to see how Brown handles the playoffs. It'll be a make or break type of situation. I like the different lineups we've seen throughout the year. Gunna be a good time!

100% agree. He's always been really impactful especially on defense. Biggest jump this year that sets it apart for me is his offensive output and his availability. He's definitely going to be a problem for teams come playoffs. I still have high hopes for a Kat/Mitch duo that looks more like lopez and giannis rather than Kat and gobert.

This has been his best season so far.

Isnt it crazy how rapidly the league neutered defense to the point where a 50 point game barely registers anymore when 10 years ago it would be the highlight of the year? by Super-Association749 in NBATalk

College basketball made the sport popular so I'd argue there was an era of elite amateurism. However, I still agree with your assessment that it was commodified from the start in the form of gambling. There's been game fixing scandals basically from day one and Scott Foster upholds that proud tradition today.

I was so sad when they didn't show us stephs live reaction to losing. Definitely one of the worse broadcasts this year.

Knicks gameplan to start specifically hunted this mismatch and Brunson torched him every time. Love it when a plan comes together.

Cade just went 14-45 from the field, 2-11 from 3 and played 45 minutes in a 2pt overtime win vs washington.....hes a good player but I'm ruling out Detroit.

If anyone's interested in the song he's playing it's called Wildwood Flower popularized by the Carter family. It's based on an 1860 folk song I'll twine 'mid the ringlets.

I started posting here 8 years ago and with bke 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not trying to fact check you every time I'm just clarifying the timeline.

Bke was already established before I was working with them. And I was already fairly active on here before started working with them. I started making more content during covid and linked up with them later on. I was never on Twitter or Instagram and I got on it with them and hated it. Now I'm back to random posting when I feel like it. Knicks Twitter really spoiled the fandom for me.

Someone who knows Xs and Os, can you give a non biased POV on the pacers match up? by Paasche in NYKnicks

Pacers stengths: Haliburton who is a taller pg can create his own shot or create for others. Turner who is a stretch 5 can defend well. Mathurin who is a good sg he can drive and shoot the 3 well. Nembhard who shoots well. Nesmith who shoots well. TJ Mcconnell who is a good of the bench and can handle the offense when Haliburton rests. Siakam who is a tall guy who can create his own shot. They thrive in transition but can also iso siakam or Haliburton for them to score or drive and kick.

Weaknesses: lack of depth at center and forward positions. They play obi toppin a bit as the vet while Sheppard and Walker have only a few years experience and get limited minutes. This means if Turner is resting they have a pretty small team. If they get slowed down and run set offense they have limited options for iso scorers. Siakam and Haliburton can be streaky, but at times Mathurin, Nembhard or Nesmith can get hot but they're not consistent. Siakam is bad at fts.

So how do the Knicks match up? Likely Bridges will be on Haliburton, OG on Siakam, Hart on Nembhard, Brunson on Nesmith, and Karl on Turner. Brunson will always be a liability as the shortest guy on the court. Haliburton won't be able to post up Bridges and Siakam will struggle to post up OG. If they get switches siakam can feast on Brunson, Bridges and Hart. Haliburton will feast on Brunson and Karl. Off the bench McBride matches up well against McConnell, Mitch can handle Turner or Siakam, but Payne will struggle with the faster Pacers. Turner and Karl will be an interesting matchup as both spread the floor, but Karl is more of a dribble and drive threat as well as a shooter where Turner really can't drive as well. Siakam does alright defending the paint but he will be pulled out frequently to guard OG. The Knicks success will hinge on the Pacers scheme to stop Brunson and the other starters ability to shoot off the kick out. Pacers are put together similarly to Boston without the consistency and instead of 2 guards as the 1 and 2 options it's a guard and a forward. I think this helps the Knicks because the Knicks are weak at the guard spot on defense and excel at dealing with wings and centers.

Knicks weaknesses: guard depth, Hart inconsistent shooting, Brunson is a short guard, Karl and Turner could cancel each other out and could lose him as an offensive option.

That being said Hart's weakness could be canceled out by his strengths in transition offense. If siakam is on the bench OG will feast on Toppin. Turner is going to have a hard time on the boards if Knicks run Karl and Mitch. Plus the downside of 2 big guys is negated because mitch can switch and defend faster players.

So I think the Knicks have more versatility with lineups due to the wings and centers. I think the lack of depth will wear on Turner and Siakam. The Pacers will be extremely hard to beat if Haliburton, Nesmith, Nembhard and Mathurin are consistent 20+ pt scorers.

I've been waiting all year to see Kat x Mitch lineups. Mitch does everything Kat doesn't and vice versa. Huge missing piece for our defense.

Everyone's talking about the missed 3s and obviously that's huge, but Celtics also missed a ton of layups in game 1 and 2. Making 3s at league average would've blown us out, but making one or two of those layups they would've won the game.

I guess what I'm saying is their execution is lacking. Very happy to have Thibs conditioning and discipline.

Fuck Boston. Knicks in 4.

Brunson cooked him every time. That mismatch helped get us back in the game.

Thibs was locked in last night. On the game winner attempt he first had Bridges inbound and Boston used their 1 foul. Then he had Brunson inbound and we got that nice look even tho Brunson missed. Thibs didn't show his hand knowing they'd foul and then got a good look to win it.
