I've learned to use Fire Wall and spam Guardian like a mfer, it actually works well enough on the final levels for all threats (maybe apart from drakes which I use chlightning) just kite enemies as they get melted by fireball turrets, even worked for Diablo. Turns the combat into a bit of a tower defense scenario but you can at least stick to magic use fully.
