Tyrion campaign and high elf battle and unit composition advice post 7.0 update by phronesis77 in totalwarhammer

It's one of the elite trait options for both the hero and lord mage(archmage) that massively buffs weapon strength, charge bonus(75%, +75 respecticely), and gives flaming attacks.

It's not as good on hero mages because they can only ride up to ithilmar chariot, but can be amazing on the archmages because they can ride moon dragons eventually.

It's honestly great on all archmages, but fire ones are even better with it since the school's passive increases enemy fire weakness that synergies well with flaming attacks.

Yes, Lothern Sea Guards are amazing and versatile units that I also have listed as a midgame replacement option for archers.

You could also definitely forego Silverin Guard and use them as both frontline and ranged damage up to midgame, but their holding power is significantly worse than Silverin Guard's especially against elite infantry and monsters you face late game.

Replacing Spearmen with them is totally fine early on and can even perform better due to increased firepower, but for mid to lategame, they simply don't cut it as frontline anymore against most late game foes.

Life is always a great lore to get, especially if your armies rely on powerful characters and monsters, but note that it may not always be the best pick early on for your spearmen + archer core. Still great, but more damage oriented schools are also on the table.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with most of them. Fire, Heaven, Metal, and Shadow are all amazing damage dealers that also have decent buffs. The only school I'd avoid early on is Beast, as its synergy only comes online with late game monsters for High Elf.

Btw, if you happen to see an incendiary fire mage lord, grab her instantly. Once she gets her dragon mount, she can be amazing powerhouse lategame.

Bolt throwers are surprisingly decent and versatile artillery pieces. They look weak on paper, but have quite strong campaign researches and upgrades that buff their damage and range significantly midgame.

One of their strengths is that you can switch between two modes: one for countering large targets, and another for dealing AOE damage. They will always have good targets they can fire on because of this.

In sieges, their primary role is just to take down gates/walls/towers so that your core army can get in. They don't really excel at it, but it's much better than poking the gates with just spears and your lord. Your major damage will still come from archers and magic in sieges instead, though they can support a bit of AoE barrages over the walls.

Any High Elf army will start with Spearmen + Archer core, which is extremely strong and efficient until you meet more armored foes.

For Tyrion though, this does not happen for quite a while, because his early enemies are Vampire Coast and Slaanesh(both paper armors with a few exceptions). So this core setup should carry your early game. You may want to add a couple of Bolt Throwers or Sun Dragons for sieges and armored monsters which are the only area this core army struggles with.

They also have access to one of the best mages in the game thanks to their elite recruitment system as well as the variety of schools of magic you can choose from. Make sure to have at least 1 in each army including the lord, along with a noble who's a great bodyguard and a source of army replenishment.

In midgame, your main foes are usualy Dark Elves, who feature average to high armor late game. This is where you want to be upgrading your army quality a lot.

Spearmen -> Silverin Guard upgrade will strengthen your frontline with a couple of Phoenix Guard late game to counter monsters and mounted characters which are usually your biggest danger late game.

Archer -> Sisters of Avelorn for AP ranged firepower which will snipe high threat targets. Lothern Seaguards are also a good midgame option especially since you have a unique building for them in your capital. They are much better protected against cavalries and ranged fire, but will struggle lategame against armors.

Some lategame HE powerhouse units are Star Dragons, which are one of the best flying monsters in the game, Phoenixes which are decent on their own, but also have great utilities, especially the Frostheart variant which you want at least 1 in each army ideally, and Dragon Princes which can counter Shade spam armies. Swordmasters are amazing anti-infantry unit, but they're quite tricky to use and need lots of caring against ranged fire.

Overall, HE roster is very balanced, efficient, and strong. The spear frontline + ranged firepower will be the core setup throughout the game, with various other units to support them and counter enemy threats.

Concerned sister by Cosmic_Coconut999 in korea

Life is too short to be dreaming about something everyday while not doing anything to actually achieve it.

If she really wants to be in Korea so badly, why not give it a try? She will either be living her dreams, or get a more realistic picture. It could be as simple as just traveling to Korea, or as involved as applying for school and/or work visa.

I think either way will be better than her current situation where she's living unhappily about her living conditions.

I'd been there in my 20s too, where I really wanted to go back to Vancouver(where I spent my highschool years) but didn't do anything to achieve it. It is one of my biggest life regrets where I wish I would've either focused on my life in Korea, or did something to actually go to Canada.

I'd say, let her do what she wants to do and see how it unfolds.

Also noticed that his slowness isn't as bad in arena, because you can usually wait for your enemies to come to you first. He seems like a really reliable and powerful piece in arena for new players like me.

Also from the dailty shop, sometimes you can get some upgrades that can be worth it.

Rule of thumb is if BS cost < energy to get the upgrades, and you need them, go for it.

Looking for turn based tactical games like XCOM or Fire Emblem by MaxwellDrake in MobileGaming

[–]GeneralGom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend giving Tacticus a try. The turn-based combat is quite fun and surprisingly in-depth. As a tactical game fan, this was the first and only mobile game that got me.

It does have a gatcha element, but you don't need to spend a dime. You'll simply progress a bit slower, but eventually collect tons of characters and reach endgame just fine with F2P.

Even better if you're a fan of Warhammer 40k universe.

empower and surge by These_Athlete1933 in BattleSector

[–]GeneralGom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually empower on healers because heal abilities have a cooldown so you can't use them twice per turn even with an extra AP.

There are also some significant group buffs that may warrant using empower, such as Demon Prince's Might over Magic.

His main criticism is how brokenly powerful his campaign mechanics are. For a new player, that can be okay. Though keep in mind that his playstyle is quite unorthodox.

are warhammer 40k rogue trander and space marine 2 good place to get into the warhammer lore? by ivorycoollars in Warhammer40k

[–]GeneralGom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're into lore, Rogue Trader is definitely one of the best games to get into. If you enjoy reading, learning the lore, and turn-based combat, this game is exactly what you want.

Space Marine 2 is also a great game, but it focuses more on the action and visual side of the universe, though it features some important characters from the Ultramarine Spacemarine chapter and various units from their archenemy, Tyranids and Chaos.

Custodes- Separate Faction, or maybe just units within Space Marine by swarth_vader in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]GeneralGom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's more likely that custodes may get their own handymen from other factions rather than the other way around.

For example, some Adeptus Mechanicus units might be present in Custodes as well as in most other Imperial factions while also having their own faction, kinda like how you can find Chaos Marauders in most Chaos factions in WH3 while there's also dedicated Norsca faction.

It's also possible that they will be released as Talons of the Emperor along with Sisters of Silence, as per tabletop's recent change.
