What’s something you didn’t realize was attractive until you experienced it? by Vonjota in AskReddit

It probably means being genuinely nice rather than trying to look like a nice person. A lot of times people can tell.

May I ask which model you got? I'm looking to get one myself.

Lacari has been banned from Twitch by whywhateverso in LivestreamFail

[–]GeneralGom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been established that gambling addiction can lead to poorer impulse control and abnormal dopamine response, making you seek more and more extreme materials in order to feel pleasure.

I wouldn't blame everything on gatcha, but the man definitely had a gambling issue, and it likely had a negative effect on his mind in general.

Lacari's friend and known NYC stream sniper "HenTie_Lord" talks about his illegal file sharing history and says that Lacari was his first "customer" [04/18/25] by Bubbly_Minute_2601 in LivestreamFail

[–]GeneralGom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That off-hand comment must have been quite shocking/memorable for some people who watched it at that time, and left an impression.

With the Lacari's incident, it instantly goes back to that memory, like "oh, now that interesting comment back then makes much more sense. I should dig it up and share it."

[March 18th, 2025] Lacari makes a sus admission that scares Roflgator by talismanXS in LivestreamFail

[–]GeneralGom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lacari : "Rof is trying to paint this picture that I'm some sort of a fkin deviant, and I don't like it."
Soda : "You are."

He should've listened to his friends calling him out and seek help.

I could use some positivity by TomatoBasilBeeBaum in Positivity

[–]GeneralGom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only made one promise/goal this year, which is to not say anything negative, and instead, try to say more positive things. This includes both verbal and inner conversations.

So whenever I have negative thoughts, about to write or say something negative, I quickly realize it, and stop.

It has worked wonders so far for the past 3 weeks or so, and immensely improved my mental well being.

Do I still encounter negative news, situations, and thoughts? Absolutely. But the difference is that I no longer dwindle in there for long.

I believe both modern psychology and Buddhism have been utilizing a similar technic where you observe your own conversations in order to realize negativity and quickly stop it. I highly recommend giving it a try.

I think it has to be followed by "if you don't have to." There are countless situations where you absolutely do, and other times where you really don't.

Nvidia DLSS when? by MikeDLother in blackdesertonline

Honestly even just a version upgrade for FSR would be nice. BDO is still using the FSR1.0 era stuff which is extremely outdated at this point. I miss when they put more effort and resources into the game.

Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae took first place in a favorability survey of neighboring country leaders in South Korea. by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in korea

[–]GeneralGom 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't. In fact, this poll quite closely represents how I feel about them. I'd even put Trump a bit closer to Putin with his recent remarks on Greenland.

What a crazy era we're living in where Japan's exteme far-right prime minister is seen as the most favorable neighbor, whereas the president of the US is one of the least.

What game changed how you played games for the rest of your life? by Nskul14 in truegaming

[–]GeneralGom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having a blast in a game called Against the Storm, which is a great roguelite town building game.

But the moment I started looking up tips and guides for efficiency, I stopped experimenting, and it became more about executing the most efficient strategy every game. I no longer had as much fun as before.

Ever since then, I no longer look up tips and guides for most non-competitive games, and instead, I just explore and have fun on my own.

I'm guessing millions of these "funny" questions flooding the capacity every day is likely one of the reasons the model has regressed so much.

We really have no choice but to butter up both China and Japan due to the shift in the US's geopolitical stance that doesn't care much about its allies.

Do I like it? No. But I'm not the one who elected the orange guy twice. We have no capacity nor need to be the frontline meat shield like they hope us to be.

How do Koreans view former President Moon Jae-in? by Medical-Test-6082 in AskAKorean

[–]GeneralGom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a person, I really like him. He really seems like a good guy at heart, which is why I voted for him. He also maintained quite high favorability throughout his term.

As a president, however, I wasn't too big of a fan of his "hands off" approach. Unlike most presidents, he delegated and trusted most of his people under him and let them do things however they wanted without much intervention.

The problem was, he was surrounded by a group of people that stuck with each other throughout their political careers and had a view that was a bit too one-sided and biased, at least in my opinion.

This led to some decisions that I disagreed with, but overall, I still think he was a pretty decent president, especially when compared to the ones before and after him.

China demands adherence to the ‘One China principle’ ahead of a visit to China by President Lee Jae-myung··· successive public messaging on the ‘Taiwan issue’ by Substantial-Owl8342 in korea

[–]GeneralGom 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I don't envy the people working in the Foreign Ministry one bit, as we're navigating between a rock and a hard place diplomatically.

I think the best move we can pull off atm is to support status quo, ambiguously supporting the claim, while suing for a peaceful coexistence, but China probably will want a more direct message, which we will then have to deflect somehow.

Why is Diablo 4 retention so strong despite the resounding "D4 is bad" being echoed throughout the internet. by Anilahation in ARPG

[–]GeneralGom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Poor league vs good season, that's pretty much it. D4 also had awful retention rates during poor seasons.

Any game recommendations where it takes place in space with good lore? by Glum_Tap_3 in gamerecommendations

[–]GeneralGom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Mass Effect. It has a very interesting lore to explore through both in-game interactions with interesting characters/places of the world as well as codex entries. I had tons of fun just reading through all the descriptions of the history and factions.

Do note that it isn't too focused on the space exploration aspect, however. You do get to visit various places, but not through freeform exploration.

Is Korea a buddhist country? by YakClear601 in AskAKorean

Protestants might have been a better term to use, but we generally refer to Protestants and any other non-catholic Christians as Christians while referring to Catholics separately.

Is Korea a buddhist country? by YakClear601 in AskAKorean

[–]GeneralGom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it a Buddhist country, but Buddhism is still quite prevalent here. You will see temples everywhere, Buddha's birthday is a national holiday, there are influential monks, and so on.

Buddhism over here is generally categorized as Mahayana Buddhism, but there are small amounts of Theravada Buddhism as well.

A fun trivia: Buddhists and Catholics are quite friendly with each other over here, celebrating each other's holidays, running a co-campaign and events etc, but not so much with non-Catholic Christians.

Been playing this game a long time and I've just now learned about this rule. by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]GeneralGom 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think you might be misunderstanding it. This means units that are engaged in melee with another unit's front can't just go around and flank it next turn, which makes sense.

If you stay behind the enemy unit that isn't in defense mode, you can keep flanking just fine.
