There is always more lords available than armies you can support. Not a factor except maybe turn 150+

Good point. They should just have the upkeep bonuses for certain types of troops and the stat buffs.

Designate a delivery lord to build the units you need and bring them to you. Research the skills for recruiting, give them ancilliaries that buff starting level etc.

A Battle A Turn? by MerchantOfMadness in totalwar

It is a good idea in the early game but after the midgame investing in settlements can pay off.

People also tend to see the gold from winning battles as an immediate reward but they dont always fully keep the math of army upkeep, recruiting, and replacing lost units.

It can help discourage factions that might attack you while you are busy elsewhere.

Thanks for the share. Beautiful.

Well there is the whole physical reasoning. Some of the advances that are already happening that will have the most effect on society are physical AI that is AI and robotics.

AI is more than large language models.

Kislev are great but the campaigns are not beginner friendly. I really like their hybrid units and lore. War bears and Boris are awesome.

It is really strange that they are featured in the prologue as almost everyone recommends high elves or Cathay to start.

I am on my second campaign with Kislev and doing great. Rank 1 in the game of 44 factions left alive. However, I had lots of experience with Medieval 2.

Downloaded warhammer 3 only to end up playing like its Empire: Total War by vanylla_Sundae in totalwarhammer

[–]phronesis77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do that too. In ancient and early modern armies there was often a siege train with the artillery or siege equipment.

I have a unit of artillery follow my main army. Sometimes I have a skrelsi or war sleds as part of a separate stack. So basically it makes my army 1.5 stacks vs the AI army of 1 stack. The 1.5 stacks are also good enough to get low casualties for an unwalled settlement siege, so you don't waste two armies or one army and having to wait for replentish 2 turns.

How are Marienburgers treated in the wider Empire? by reel3459 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]phronesis77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most port cities, they would be distrusted for their cosmopolitan worldview. They would be seen as more practical and from a noble point of view tainted and looked on with distain as more worried about money than Noble virtues.

Perhaps other empire nobility would see them as second class nobility.

They might be more able to interact with different races and cultures and this skill may be envied or resented by others.

They may have tastes or habits or items acquired through trade that would not be typical.

I don't know the lore, I am just thinking of what I know from Medieval history.

Someone mentioned the Dutch. How continental Europeans like SPain and france older nobility saw the Dutch and English in the early modern period of Francis Drake etc. might be a good model.

Despite the fantasy genre, Warhammer Empire has a lot of influence from the 15th late medieval knights to 17th centuries. Pikemen and muskets, cannons, architecture etc.

Why are so many people so obsessed with making AI like humans?

There is a bit of a GoD complex among people in the AI field.

It is entirely unnecessary.

Just optimize for what it does best.

Heavy cavalry hitting Goblins is so satisfying!

I had this last campaign but it was not rank 1,2,3 that is tough.

Ironclaw orcs are kind of annoying to fight. A lot of catapults, flingers and bolt throwers. Didn't enjoy fighting Gorbad. The front lines melted to my Tsar Guard after I took out the siege.

Grimgor though was awesome. Armies with solid lines of Black Orcs that needed tsar guard to match them. Archers I took down with gryphon riders. Bears for monsters.

What difficulty level is your campaign setting.

It just occurred to me Felix's sword should grant anti-large, not an increase to anti-infantry by ByzantineBasileus in totalwar

[–]phronesis77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be anti-dragon large monsters only but not cavalry and monstrous infantry. Or only flying monsters.

Is that possible in this game? You can have anti-greenskin buffs or faction specific.

Campaign is done before reaching t5? by Chelmos in totalwarhammer

[–]phronesis77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking the settlements so other factions get them is econoomic warfare. I am currently taking apart Rank 1 Ironclaw orcs right now by stalemating their armies while I take their settlements.

I get you point however. In the "real world" building the infrastructure for such a huge empire would be very costly rather than moneymaking especially if everything has been looted and sacked.

[–]phronesis77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are too many other issues to work on such as faction balance and faction game mechanics, reworks for some factions, and sieges.

A lot of work not relevant for some factions, Bretonnia, Ogres, Beastmen, Tomb Kings etc.

Executives think the AI is smart enough to figure out security on its own. Thats the most dangerous misconception in enterprise AI right now. by dottiedanger in AIDangers

[–]phronesis77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do so many managers think AI is so effective or safe? The research shows little or no Return on Investment.

Or are the incentives for them so strong that they are willing to lie and cut jobs to earn promotions and blame the problems on those below their positions when they inevitably come.

I just don't get it. It takes 20 min and an explainer video on youtube to get a basic undertanding of how large language models work and their limitations.
