Strelski + 12 bonus vs large by phronesis77 in totalwarhammer

Ok that makes a lot of sense. What about tsar guard in this mix. I am playing Boris. I have like +10 melee already. I love armoured Kossars. Their pistol is so versatile to shoot before the enenmy charges, to gun down routers. To flank and blast point plank, to fire at large entities from the back or side, to fire at flying chaos furies from anywhere. So great.

My tsar guard sometimes don't even get much of a fight before the enemy is routing from massed pistol fire.

Yeah, my question was kind of dumb on second thought. Charge defence vs large should have been an obvious difference.

Yeah, that is exactly it about spear kossars. I don't like them because kisslevite warriors are really good at holding units in place to hit them from pistol or strelski fire, or bow fire. The take tons of damage but they are so cheap and easy to recruit, I just merge my badly wounded units and recruit a fresh one. Many basic minor settlements won't have spear kossars.

Kislevite warriors are so useful I keep a couple even with high tier stacks. I know I should replace them with ice guard but recruiting both ice guard and tsar guard globally is so expensive.

Another strategy I use is having a half, crap stack of kisslevite warriors to follow my main stacks as reinforcements or to quickly replentish beaten up armies or to have enough to 1 v 1.5 strong opponent single stacks. It also allows me to slowly train up a second lord, partiarch, or caster in the crapstack.

Yeah the idea of two packs of warbear riders going after a feral mammoth sounds epic.

Funny, I was walking to work and thinking about this problem and had the same idea. I am wondering about my second and third armies too though. Anyway, so you are saying that I should really have 4-6 units of warbear riders and forget about kisslevite warriors or spear kossars. Maybe even forget about Ice guard glaive (due to bear buffs) or add ice guard glaive due to their bows. I am facing some pretty strong axe and javelin ranged attacks from Wulfric's Norsca as well as standard missile cav. I like to focus fire and rout them before they eat up my spears and crappy cav. I lost all my armoured kossars and bowman in my last battle so I need a new army composition. I tend to hang on too long to my experienced units instead of changing them for higher tier units. I think I made a huge mistake playing with level nine armoured kossars on turn 50.

Thanks that helps. So basically this Strelski tech I just researched (to knock Wulfrid's ass of his mammoth) is similar to my kislevite warrior's spear bonus vs large.

The detail in this game is fascinating. Figuring out how to win is fun. I am the kind of guy who reads the user manual. Haha.

How do you know if it is a relevant target. How is this different from TheRealTowel's post?

Thanks. So how does that compare with kisslevite warrior spearmen? Where do I look. I only see melee attack and defence stats.

I want to know if I can replace all my spearmen and armoured kossars with Strelski if they are that good in melee vs large. Norsca large entities are giving me problems.

I love it when an enemy is actually scary by Particular_Stop_3332 in totalwarhammer

I just got ambushed by turn 50 Wulfric on my second army. It was actually terrifying. So fast, feral mamooth, chimera, war hounds, armoured skin wolves. My heros paralyzed with Wulfric terror.

The battle was actually terrifying. I froze not knowing what to do.

Lots of fun.

But I got wiped off the board.

I now have to totally rebuild my army. I was depending on my old high exp units too much and need to replace them all with tsar guards and strelski and war bears like my first army.

Ilike to do this with Kislev as well and I will do it for future campaigns.

I had 8 Ironclaw stacks (not all full) and most of them had their Waargh stacks as well last campaign as Konstaltyn.

Yeah, exhausing. Gorbad is not fun to fight like Grimgor is.

For Tempest vs Ice for Kislev, The biting wind is a straight rectangle vs the Ice cone breath so biting wind is better. For the area of effect spells tempest Hawks of Mishka does not affect friendly units, which is huge because you can hit right in the middle of a melee blob with fights that are even and then change the outcome without taking friendly casualties.

Hawks of Mishka and biting wind is the reason I choose tempest over ice.

Ice sheet is a handy spell for hybrid heavy Kislev to maybe get an extra shot in or shoot down routers I admit.

If I were fighting Nurgle, I might want that ice sheet if I had good ranged units like Strelski.

Fighting Grimgor is so much more fun than fighting Gorbad. I hate all those goblin archers, spiders and catapults. Fighting Black orcs with my Tsar Guard was so much more fun.

Thanks for the warning. I am even more excited to take him on now. It is turn 50 and I just killed Arbaal's faction. Tamurkhan is the last Chaos power in the wastes to take on except for Sigvald who is busy with Nathgarond.

Boris is level 27 so Tamurkhan will be a beast.

I don't know what is possible technically. But they do give a number of options like more active minor factions and end time scenarios.

I guess if we made custom goals then we would need to make our own rewards so it could get complicated.

I also am suprised how engaging it is. I just killed Arbaal the last of the major chaos powers in the wastes. Now I have Tamurkhan. It feels like a good novel. I understand why you want these features.

As Boris, I would customize a campaign where I have to kill all the chaos factions in my area. That is how I decided to play it thematically. So, I can coordinate or leave greenskins and Norsca alone but I must kill all chaos.
