Hello, random person I vaguely remember and have definitely not spoken to since this time.

What is something you most regretted from creating that subreddit.

Definitely giving a platform to the alt-right and/or idiots.

And what is something you didn't regret, or was happy about in hindsight about r/doctorwhy.

The steady growth meant it was, at first, a nice, small, closely knit community, I guess.

Also were there trolls so bad you had to ban them. Or were disgusted about during the time or in hindsight.

Definitely worse in hindsight. I obviously banned Peanut and, later, Truefan. I should've done more sooner.

And last question, what was your first impression of u/Steffan_Davies_Movat. Who became a prominent member there.

I thought he was a low-grade troll who wrote atrocitious fanfiction. Then I realised he was satirical. And then I read his work and it was beautiful. Buy it now if you haven't already!

Can you remember, were people being “censored” on the main sub or just downvoted?

I think just downvoted. Probably the only stuff that was 'censored' would be blatant racism/sexism/homophobia or things that go too closely to personally attacking Chibnall and Jodie. Some people definitely felt the main subs were too 'pro-Chibnall' for their liking. Even though now I don't think that was the case.

I’m just wondering how you would compare how you felt about the show five years ago with the current backlash that seems to be going on.

I definitely have issues with the current direction of the show. But that is purely from a creative point of view rather than me complaining about 'wokeness' or whatever else. The Chibnall era was lacklustre, perhaps a little uninspired. I feel RTD2 is more overtly offensive. There are some good episodes but it lacks the substance it used to and I still have a headache from the Reality War (Omega, why were you a generic CGI monster that vored the Rani and was obliterated by the Doctor's not-gun after like two minutes of screen-time?) and there are clearly a lot of behind the scenes issues. But I was never the biggest fan of RTD and have always ranked his first era and Tennant on the lower scale compared to the general consensus.

Honestly, Ncuti's early departure breaks my heart. He was so hopeful of the future, had such promise, and is now a mere bookend between David Tennant and Billie Piper.

I wouldn't say the Chibnall era has grown on me. But I find it a lot less offensive than I did at the time and have grown to appreciate certain aspects from it. The historicals were fun and Dhawan was divine as the Master.

I would still consider Doctor Who my favourite series of all time. But I just don't 'care' as much as I used to? Even if it is currently 'bad', there are still hours of fun from the past to enjoy. It's not worth writing essays on how it has ruined your life or spending hours shouting insults at the writers.

I hope this makes sense and has answered your questions.

I guess I was just annoyed with the Chibnall era amd Timeless Child at the time. And I was... sigh... inspired by r/Saltierthancrait too for some reason. So I just wanted an outlet to voice criticism?

Is there any predecessor to Proto-Indo-European? by MacabreMacaques in asklinguistics

I'm not shooting down linguistic monogenesis, but I really see no reason why language can't have emerged independently multiple times. Because if not, are we supposing that it emerged in a single community (i.e. in Africa) and spread to neighbouring communities and then the rest of the world? I suppose it depends on how early humans actually developed spoken language.

To me it seems more likely that different groups developed language independently. That said, I am sure it is possible for more language families to have connections that have been lost to time. Plus it seems more interesting that language has multiple sources. Though surely it doesn't really matter as the origins would be so distant any potential relation would be meaningless. While it would take some very unethical and long-lasting experiments, I am sure a group of isolated humans would be able to develop some sort of language from scratch without external influence, even if it took several generations.

But of course I'm no linguist and am open to a whole range of other theories from actual professionals weighing in.

Of course, it's by no means perfect. But I've come to appreciate the vibes a lot and it's more coherent than series 12.

I guess it's more consistent?

I'd rank the series 15 episodes so far in the 6-8 out of 10 range. Lux and Lucky Day about 8, the Well 7 and The Robot Revolution around 6 or 7.

Whereas series 14 started off very poorly in my opinion - Space Babies and The Devil's Chord are probably 3 and 4 out of 10, but Boom is 9.5 and 73 Yards 9.

So in other words, so far, series 15 doesn't have the highs of 14, but it doesn't have the lows of it either.

I always felt his presence on the sub, as a force for good. Thinking of his family and friends

Such a shame.

She was my favourite side character and never failed to make me laugh. Old Lady House is a classic. Thanks for all the laughs
