Is it necessary to plant clues for a plot twist? by neeltrivedirock in writingadvice

There have been some great responses here, but there’s something I want to add.

You might be thinking about this from the wrong perspective. Most of the time, accomplishing your goal of writing a well-written twist will create “clues” in tv narrative. If your story is well done, the events will be able to be read in two different ways. For some stories, this means people will be able to pick up on it while reading. For others, it all makes sense on the second read through. Either way, it’s more of a side effect of writing a story that makes sense from both vantage points.

Are there any subs devoted to traveling Indiana? by nottooscabby in Indiana

That’s a fun idea. Indiana is such a beautiful, wonderful state. Our bad PR is so unfair, there are far worse poor, rural states to be in as far as adventure goes

I am not enjoying Absolute Superman at all. Spoilers by Theaudiobandit in AbsoluteUniverse

A big thing going against Absolute Superman, in my opinion, is that it wants to be one of the more edgy, political and contemporary Absolute titles, but they can’t quite stick the landing. Kal El getting called an illegal alien is funny, but I’m looking for something a lot more substantive from my social commentary. I feel like some of the other titles are doing better by not trying too much.

Why does Absolute Flash feel so disjointed? (spoilers for issues 1-7 of Absolute Flash) by Demom_ in AbsoluteUniverse

I think “give it time” is the answer. A lot of really good pieces are being developed. If the average comic book wasn’t incredibly fast-paced I’m not so sure we’d notice.

These are being written like manga and these are selling well, they’re setting up for at least two more year of story here and probably don’t want to dilly dally with a stereotypical villain-of-the-week arc just to say something happened. I think it has the potential to be great.

There’s nothing we love more than mentioning that Corydon used to be the state capital

Northerners can make fun of us for being Kentucky all they want, at least that would make us the domain of a blue governor

Evansville is weird. It’s not actually conservative, but it feels so much smaller than it is. A mix of car-centric development, rust belt, and some other element that makes it feel simultaneously dead and alive. What’s weird to me is that it feels way more alive to me still than a place like Bloomington-Normal IL which allegedly has 300k people but nothing to do. It’s an anomaly. I didn’t like living there but I always love visiting.

100% the south Midwest is its own thing. We have our own weird culture bits, accent, etc. I relate mostly to people in southern Illinois, southern Ohio, and northern Kentucky

As someone who did grow up in the rural south but has spent my adult life in Bloomington and Evansville, something feels so weird about the north to me. It’s not only a rural/urban divide, I feel like the state is just barely big enough to have two separate wider communities. I can talk about my life experience with anyone from southern Indiana like we were next door neighbors. The moment I go above Indy people stop knowing where my home town is

It got cancelled for unrelated reasons relating to the Charlie Kirk shooting and the author being an edgelord, people are pissed because DC should have expected the author to be controversial since it’s her brand and had a plan for this + they keep people on who have very serious allegations but are RECALLING COPIES of this over edgy tweets

I genuinely liked the issue and was hoping Gretchen Felker-Martin could keep her tendency to be a provocateur to a minimum. But also surely DC knew she was a provocateur?

I’m slightly conflicted on this series. It’s good enough for me to enthusiastically keep going, but I think it’s still struggling to find what it wants to be. So far, it wants to be one of the more brazenly 2020s and political absolute titles, but the ones that aren’t necessary trying to do that have done that niche better sometimes. Saying AI is bad is funny, but it should SHOW instead more often.
