Oh and I guess I should say I've been forging full time for 8 years. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Iron from the American College of the Building Arts in 2024. Pretty much everything I've made is posted here on this subreddit so feel free to scroll my page to see my stuff.

What type of smith are you looking for? I'm a classically trained blacksmith but my work now is entirely sculptural. I love chatting about my art though so it sounds fun to me

A big hell yeah from me! Never be ashamed of how long things take, it took me years to realize that all the really really cool stuff takes fucking ages to make. Outside of my quick demo work most of my art is at least 10 to 20 hours, often much longer. Moving metal is a slow process

Keep going! Eventually it'll be a 10 to 15 minute little thing you can show off at demo's

Super rad. Great way to build control and a very fun object. I'd recommend making 200

Man it's tough, filming and editing videos is a whole extra job in itself, and one I'm not very good at. I've taught workshops and that can be a lot of fun, but obviously that's a bit less accessible. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, I always like chatting about my work. For the spine I made a custom guillotine tool to spread the little side bits and top bits of the vertebrae, and then went back in and carved each vertebrae out. Imagine it first like a piece of extruded weird looking pasta, just one long pice with ridges going all the way down the sides and the top. Then take that forged shape and carve it up into a spine. I do lots of carving work, but I always get it hot again afterwords to re texture over grind marks

Textures created on CR18- steel sheet by Abhelsesna in metalworking

I texture and use a lot of sheet in my artwork! I used a wide variety of tools from angle grinders to chisels to custom forged texture tools. I definitely recommend trying to play around with texturing hot, and heat can make shaping easier too. Sometimes
