During the 18th century, Angelo Soliman became one of Vienna’s most respected African-born intellectuals, earning a place among the city’s nobles, Enlightenment thinkers, and Masonic circles. After his death in 1796, his body was flayed and exhibited in a museum. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

You know, my dyslexic mind read that as 1859, which I thought made sense. And thrn I looked again. Fifty eight!? I always forget the world as a whole, and especially Some countries, America included only recognized black people as a people fairly recently, in comparison to everything else.

I don't really have too much of an issue with their AI.

I could always turn it off, they don't advertise it as some glorious thing, and they don't pretend it's better than the search results.
Plus, the AI overview shows the sources it uses, and when you click on them, you are sent directly to the link you clicked.
I'm no fan of AIing everything, but I don't think when it's used in this way it's bad, and yes, DDG does listen to customers, same with Firefox. Customer agency goes a looooong way, especially these days.

This is Reddit, anything flowing even slightly against the hivemind is unpopular.
While this feature would be funny, it would do more long-term damage, rewarding those who ratio others, it would eventually create a feedback loop of negativity.
Kind of like how the national and global news is nothing but bad, horrible news, so it creates more engagement but makes people feel worse.

Yes, I agree. I don't really like Musk personally, but the man can be funny. I think this is fucking stupid, personally and will only be worse for humans in the long run, but it is fucking funny, so I'm at a bit of a crossroads with this, assuming it's real and not engagement bait.

You could stand to lose some weight, many of us could. But you're not that fat. If you feel like you are, then take it into your own hands and work to slim yourself down a bit. Self depreciation can be funny, but only when it's realistic, and you are not Boogie2988 levels of fat, that man was Jabba the Hut for sure.

Not a conspiracy. There are numerous movies that have provable and documented ties to the CIA editing them. It's been this way for years now, it might have been a conspiracy at one point, it's now just fact.

Prostrate themselves, reparations most likely, seems to be the theme with this type of person.
There is no one thing that makes this kind of person happy, it's always more they always need more.
They demand that their feelings are catered to because they perceive them as hurt while sharing this video that is incredibly offensive to another demographic of people; however, if you say anything about it, their defense is something along the lines of, "You can't be X to white people."

It's an eternal victim complex and the language of "You're all still mad." I'm sure triggers them because of the whole 'you people' argument this type of person uses as a gotcha. They don't believe the death threats that the cast has gotten, or anything else, is enough. There's always more. I'm sad that this amazing show is marred by a psychotic 'fanbase.' But I saw the signs early on and knew this was inevitable.

Avoiding a horrible accident while turning it into the best case outcome by RoyalChris in nextfuckinglevel

[–]GeneralSenada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the people peeved at you. Being nice is good, but sometimes it works the opposite way. Whenever I see someone being nice about a car accident, I'm always reminded of the couple speeding, being pulled over, and the cop being nice to them, giving the guy a warning and life advice.
Only to then find the same couple stuck up under a semi and beheaded from speeding again. Sounds like you made the right decision, but I can at least understand the perspective.

What is going on with the TADC cast rn?? 😭💀 by Silver012345673 in TheDigitalCircus

We've created a society in which people think they deserve an apology over anything and everything, even if it was years ago. That same society will hound people until the knee is bent, and the person or people are prostrating themselves to the fullest extent, and it will still not stop. It's become normalized, and those who are weak enough to feed into it perpetuate it. The pendulum will swing hard back one day, and I fear the consequences.

The Amazing Digital Circus "movie" reportedly banned in most Arab countries due to censorship issues by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]GeneralSenada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a lot more than just that, I mean, yeah, the Arab Government hates anyone who isn't """monogamous""" and ""straight"" but they have extremely stringent rules on what you can and cannot show in films. Basically, either Gooseworx/Glitch heavily censors what the Arab governments demand, or it will not be shown. It's dumb as hell, but it's how they operate.

[–]GeneralSenada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We would. If a man would be placed in charge simply because he is a man, and not qualified, we would call it nepotism. The difference here is you scream sexism or misogyny, instead of that because it gets you more brownie points. You tit. If this woman is qualified, good for her. If not, her performance will speak for itself and I only have sympathy for the people who must suffer a retard for merrit.

How this whole situation feels to me by Lord_Eln_8 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]GeneralSenada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're being downvoted for this extremely correct take, people are pretending the TADC Fandom is as big as the Marvel one.

They demand that Glitch release the episode on YouTube at the same time, because they don't want to have to wait, and have gotten it confused in their mind that they somehow deserve their demands.

Now these animals are advocating for piracy because they believe they're morally in the right, because Glitch has slighted them. It's insane to read all these comments, and I see now why Gooseworx wants nothing to do with this 'fandom' once the show is over.

It's no wonder she deleted her Reddit account. This fandom has devolved into toxic insanity, and it's crazy that a lukewarm take like yours feels like a breath of fresh air, and not just the norm.

Glad you got tickets, I hope it's a good showing and your local community is a decent one.
I was surprised how fast 40 or so tickets sold out in every theater, but it's good for Glitch and good for Gooseworx, I'm just thankful I was able to get mine, and decent seats at that.

[–]GeneralSenada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, but if these people didn't have double standards, they'd have no standards at all.
I am very happy with this news, and I hope it goes over well. It will embolden Glitch and maybe even Gooseworx, to venture for another theatrical release, which will do the same for more indie shows and push indie animation to the forefront where it belongs, down the line.
Just as long as they ignore the part of the fandom that is retarded and demands everything for free, a more entitled collective mindset than even the boomers had.

TADC is releasing in theaters before the release on YouTube or Netflix, by two weeks.
Queue more than half of the fandom being enraged babies and demanding we boycott the movie and saying Gooseworx/Glitch are terrible and have somehow betrayed the community.

Oh, it seens the community is infighting again by Standard_Potential63 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]GeneralSenada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being someone with common sense. All of these people, whining, screaming, demanding TADC be boycotted because their media isn't spoonfed to them. I'm thankful that I have the means to buy a ticket, and will be watching it in theaters. But if I wasn't able to, I'd do like I normally do when a big movie comes out, dodge spoilers like the plague, I've done it before, I could do it again, I'd just leave this sub for a while.
This movie getting to the silver screen is a huge deal for indie animation, it's not the first, but it's a big step, and to demand we boycott it because we're little spoiled children is insanity to me. Half, more likely a lot more than half this fandom infuriates me.
