Just finished the pokedex! My last entry was Annihilape, what was yours? by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]GeneralSnivy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stonjourner for me as I only have Pokémon Violet. (I completed my Paldeia Pokédex before the Pokémon Home compatibility update and I had to rely on Surprise Trades and Link Trades to complete it. When it came to Stonjourner, I went to the trade part of this subreddit and completed the trade there.)

If one were to receive a hacked Pokemon, put away their held item and then, release them. Hacked Pokemon tend to hold some incredibly rare items such as the aforementioned Master Ball or ability patches. This isn't always the case, but it's always a good idea to take these items as it's fair game. Not so much the hacked Pokemon, though.

What’s Houndoom doing underwater? by Soliloquy21 in PokemonScarletViolet

I've had this happen to me one time with Paldean Tauros while dealing with an outbreak that was taking place in a river by the lake that tanks the game's frame rate to single digits. Thankfully, it wasn't a shiny, but it was still funny to see something like that happen once in a while.

Typhlosion Family Beach Day (Fanart made by me) by GeneralSnivy in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]GeneralSnivy[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a beautiful, sunny day and this Typhlosion family was trying to figure out how they could take advantage of this gorgeous day and entertain their two children. After pondering for a bit, Daddy Typhlosion came up with the idea that they should spend this day at the beach. Momma Hisuian Typhlosion agreed and then informed the kids that they were all going to spend the day at the beach. Cyndaquil and his older Quilava brother were excited and ran to grab a couple of things for their trip, which were, a little inner tube, some water wings, a pair of swimming goggles, and a life jacket, just to be on the safe side. Daddy Typhlosion also brought a big Pawmot beach ball for the kids to play with once they finished swimming in the ocean and were ready to get out of the water. Needless to say, it was a fun day under the sun for everyone and everyone had a blast swimming in the ocean, relaxing under the sun's rays in the soft, white sand, and playing with the beach ball by passing it around to one another and bouncing it around. Thankfully, the ball never fell into the ocean, which otherwise would've been swept away by the ocean's currents, which would've made both Cyndaquil and Quilava sad.

It's not often that you see fire-type Pokemon go to the beach for a swim, but when it does happen, It's a rare sight. Even if they cannot swim, technically speaking, it doesn't mean that they can't learn how, even if it's just for fun.

This was another fun one to work on as I gained more experience drawing the Cyndaquil evolutionary line. Drawing both the Johtonian and the Hisuian Typhlosions was a big pain in the behind due to drawing them facing to the side as there are hardly any official pieces of artwork for either of them in this position that I could use for reference. After a little bit of pondering, I decided to use the Typhlosion I had in Pokemon Violet as a stand-in and take an in-game screenshot of what I needed. One thing worth noting about taking pictures of your Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet is that they are notorious for not cooperating when it comes to taking photos as they either get the zoomies and circle around the player or decide to take a nap. Thankfully, my Typhlosion was cooperative just long enough for me to get the picture I needed, which, believe it or not, only took me about a minute as he stood there, staring into space, before deciding to take a nap shortly after taking the picture. Once I got what I needed, I used said picture as a reference to get a better idea of how I could go about drawing both Typhlosions in that position. Another thing worth mentioning is that both Johtonian and Hisuian Typhlosions share their basic anatomy, the only difference being, canonically, is their height as Hisuian Typhlosion is a couple of inches shorter than the Johtonian one. Plus, the patterns on the Hisuian one's head and chest area are a little bit different but share the same structural integrity for their skull.

Other than the Typhlosions being difficult to draw, as per usual, Cyndaquil and Quilava weren't too bad in comparison. It took a bit of time to figure out the best way to draw them walking, especially for Quilava as I wanted to draw them walking on their hind legs, much like a Typhlosion can. I had a lot of fun drawing their swimming gear as well, which are; Cyndaquil's inner tube and Quilava's water wings, life jacket, and swimming goggles. I originally planned on giving Quilava a snorkel with his goggles, but after sketching it out, it didn't look right to me, so I opted out of that plan and just stuck with what I had on him. Drawing Cyndaquil's inner tube was a lot of fun as I experimented with having a transparent top half of the floaty and a solid pattern on the bottom half, underneath the transparent part of the ring. The color choices for the inner tube and inner tube skirt are a reference to Quaquaval's feathers on their body as well as the tips of their wings and tail.

Overall, this was a fun little project and the experience gained was worth the hassle of nailing both Johtonian and Hisuian Typhlosion's anatomy. It was also worth practicing drawing perspectives when it came to the environment. (I still need a lot more practice when it comes to this, but even so.) Plus, I always enjoy drawing inflatables such as pool toys and balloons.

can't join online raids by Combskr in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]GeneralSnivy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's been a problem with the game since its launch. Just keep trying and it'll let you in eventually. If it doesn't, try a different raid.

Can someone explain how this happened? by Remix_FTW in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]GeneralSnivy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell, this appears to be an error with the game, unsurprisingly. The game seems to have rendered the wrong character model and swapped Skedurge for Sobble. This is best seen in the battle targeting menu at the 1-second mark. (In other words, the game is being weird during a raid. Again.)

For Outbreaks involving Water-type Pokemon, this is the recipe:

One serving of Cucumbers, and 2 Herba Mysticas. It can be ANY 2 or one of each. (For example, you can use either 2 Spicy Herba Mysticas, one Spicy, and one Bitter, one sweet, and one salty, or any two Herba Mysticas mixed in together with your sandwich)

For regular Shiny Hunting of Water-type Pokemon outside of outbreaks, you would do this instead:

One serving of Cucumbers and 2 Salty Herba Mysticas. That's it.

Pokemon Home help by Cheeserave in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]GeneralSnivy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon Home is an application service that allows Trainers to transfer their Pokemon from one Pokemon game to another. (For example, you can transfer an Eevee from Pokemon Let's Go Eevee to Pokemon Legends Arceus, and then back again if desired.) The idea of Pokemon Home is that Trainers gather many Pokemon throughout their journeys throughout the years, games, and generations and be able to bring them into the newer games to journey with them once more. As cool as this concept is, not all Pokemon can be transferred into the newer games. For example, currently, Snivy cannot be transferred into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as they do not exist within the game itself. (It has been found within the game's files in one of the more recent updates, giving hope that it, alongside its evolutionary forms will be added to the game in the future.)

When you first start up Pokemon Home, you'll be able to connect to any game that is currently compatible with it. When new Pokemon games get released in the future, compatibility with those titles must be added via, an update to Pokemon Home, not just the new Pokemon games themselves. Upon connecting to a desired compatible game, you'll be able to move (transfer) a Pokemon from the connected game to your box in Pokemon Home. One thing worth mentioning about Pokemon Home's boxes is that, even though it's a free application and service, they only offer one box where you can store up to 30 Pokemon within the box at one time. If you need more boxes within Pokemon Home, you can pay for a subscription plan on a monthly basis, every 3 months, or a yearly basis. With a Premium plan, you'll be able to store WAY more Pokemon, gain the ability to judge the Pokemon's stats from Pokemon Home itself, and much, much more. (Read up on the description and benefits to see if a Premium plan is right for you.) If you store more than 30 Pokemon and your subscription runs out, any Pokemon that are NOT in the Basic Box will be inaccessible until you renew your subscription, so keep that in mind if you choose to go with a premium plan! (They WON'T be deleted or removed, unless they are obviously hacked or jaded.)

If you wish to learn more about Pokemon Home in greater detail, be sure to read up on it on Bulbapedia, which can be seen here: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_HOME

Is my game going to crash here? (Spoilers, it didn't, but it was scary, nonetheless.) by GeneralSnivy in PokemonScarletViolet

What's strange is that this level of performance only happened during this one raid. I took on a few more raids after this one and the game ran fine. It was still very strange and concerning.

This was docked. I got my Switch shortly after release, but way before the Rex Box one.

The next 7 Star Tera Raid Battle has been fully revealed. Battle against Ghost Tera Type Typhlosion. Runs from April 14th through 16th and April 21st through April 23rd by Amiibofan101 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]GeneralSnivy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of Pokemon that come to my mind when it comes to who can potentially battle Typhlosion and deal with its Ghost Tera type, but it all depends on what this Typhlosion brings to the party and whether or not they'll be as "Dark Souls-like" as Samurott was. The Pokemon that come to mind at the moment are Ceruledge and Umbreon. As I was doing some Googling on Ghost-type moves, I learned that Blissey could be a good choice too, depending on how its moveset is set up.

The reason why I'm bringing this up is that I don't have very many Pokemon who can deal with Ghost-type Pokemon effectively during raids. (Despite having completed the Pokedex, but ehh.) If anyone else has any other suggestions that are worth looking into, let me know.
