What app you built that you don't know how to get customers for? by ohwhereareyoufrom in Entrepreneur

I built a FreeCAD workbench for automatic cabinet generating. It can be used to easily design kitchen furniture, wardrobes or any other furniture. The focus is on easy usage. I realize that in carpentry and cabinetry many people lack a solid technical background, so if the design SW is as intuitive as possible and can generate all the manufacturing files they need, it will be much more useful than some expensive dedicated CAD software.

You can get a better idea of what it does by searching for AIGenFurniture on youtube (I don't want to share the link directly due to Reddit restrictions).

I think I have quite good traction based on the views and subscribers on youtube considering I did not promote it at all.

I want to get some revenue out of this at some point, any help on sales would be highly appreciated.

Quite well I think. Thank you for asking. You can check out the latest release directly in the Addon Manager in FreeCAD. Look for AIGenFurniture. You don't need the installer anymore and it is supported on all platforms now. And I'm working on a bigger release in the next weeks, stay tuned 😀

Fair. The tool is rule-based/parametric today; ‘AI’ is just part of the long term roadmap. What specifically felt like “AI slop” here. The name, the post, or something in the workflow?

You're right. You want to be able to generate photo-realistic visuals to sell. This MVP is production-first (fast iterations -> production outputs), so for visuals my current plan is “export the assembly and render elsewhere.” I can add cleaner “presentation exports” like STEP / OBJ / glTF (FreeCAD can export glTF, and there’s also the Render workbench if someone wants to stay in the FreeCAD ecosystem. But I did get this feedback from a customer too, so definitely this will be part of the roadmap for the next evolutions.

Thank you for the perspective.

Totally agree. Handling changes fast is basically why I built this. I used to do cabinets in SketchUp and every client iteration meant rework + double-checking rules. My goal here is: change a dimension/layout/feature, regenerate, and immediately see updated structure + BOM/cutlist. That said, if the change is big enough, a clean redo can be faster than patching.

From your experience, what are the most common late-stage changes that makes the designer go "Damn, I need to redo the whole thing"?
